Women and marriage written to myself (male perspective): Job 31:1 – Job made a covenant with his eyes to not stare at (distinguish) girls Prov 11:16 – A kindhearted (gracious) woman gains respect Prov 11:22 – Beauty must be coupled with wisdom and knowledge (discretion) Prov 14:1 – A woman will either build her house with wisdom or tear it down with foolishness Prov 30:18-19 – The way of a man with a young girl is too amazing to understand Prov 30:30:20 – The adulteress eats, wipes her mouth, and says she’s done nothing wrong Prov 30:21-23 – The earth trembles and cannot bear up under the married, unloved woman or the maidservant who displaces her mistress Prov 12:4 – A wife can be a crown if she has noble character or decay to the bones if she is disgraceful Prov 18:22 – He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord Prov 19:13 – A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping Prov 31:3 – Do not spend your strength (valor) on women Prov 5 – No matter how sweet she may seem, do not forsake your own wife for an adulteress. Don’t even go near her or much sorrow will follow. Prov 31:10-31 – The wife of noble character is worth more than rubies, is worthy of full confidence, praised by her children, her husband, and by the neighbors. She fears God, works hard, and is wise, compassionate, and planning. I Cor 7 – It is good for a man to not marry, but to avoid immorality each man should have his own wife. Each man should live as though he had no wife. Having a wife leads to divided interests. Eph 5:22-33 – Husbands are the head of the family, and are to love their wives as their own bodies. The husband-wife relationship is very analogous to the Christ-church relationship. The two will become one flesh.
