Quick notes on grumbling and complaining: Philppians 2:14-16 Here is a very direct admonishment to be pure and uncomplaining in this life. This one also outlines the guiding directive behind not arguing or complaining – to follow Jesus’ command to be children of God who are working hard for Christ’s kingdom until He returns. 1 Corinthians 10:10 This may be an overboard threat for the casual complainer (especially if they don’t know the God of Heaven). This section (1 Cor 10:1-13) is a quick digest of Israel’s big mistakes and punishments as they moved from Egypt to Palestine. James 5:9 For someone who understands ‘the Judge’ this is a modern language warning. The section (James 5:7-12) is an encouragement to be patient with whatever comes in this life. Nearly anywhere in the vicinity of Exodus 17. The Israeli’s grumbling caused God to speak very poorly of them and eventually ban an entire generation from reaching their destination. Jude 16 ‘These men’ in this verse are talked about as the evil in the church through this whole Book/Chapter. The warnings about them are very stern. 1 Peter 4:9 You really need to read this whole paragraph. It’s one of my favorites as far as defining the reason for my life.
