Change Prior to a
Big Event is a Bad Idea
It is human nature to
prepare ourselves for big events in life,
a major sporting event,
a trip, a change in our family,
but we sometimes prepare
in ways that jeopardize the outcome of the event.
Often times in
preparation for a long road trip in the family car,
we take the car into the
shop for mjor service just prior to leaving town
only to find out the
hard way, 1000 miles down the road,
that the mechanic didn't
quite complete the job and you're stranded.
Just recently, in
preparation for a three month trip to Europe,
my son went to the eye
doctor for an annual checkup,
changing his
prescription, contacts, and glasses only to find
the transition to the
change not working out
too close to leaving
town to do anything about it.
Necessary maintenance is
one thing, but making major changes
just prior to a big
event for no good reason is just
asking for trouble.
Decrapify your
preparation,
do exactly the amount
that needs to be done,
and leave the rest of it
alone!
