Notice the big holes rusted in the floor under the gas tank.
Notice the holes rusted in the toolbox
June 5, 1999- I sandblasted quite a bit today. I finished sandblasting the grille. I brazed the six holes shut that were put in for the add-on turn signals that someone installed sometime in the past. I wont use the add-on turn signal lights. Instead I am buying dual filament bulbs. The metal swelled in the front of the grille a little from the brazing process. The grille sandblasting is finally complete. (Greg Sechler stopped by on his Harley.)
June 6, 1999- I met Bill Vickner. He receives a Willys publication, and he gave me one. He also referred me back to Dick Antram. All these magazines are helpful for finding parts. Tonight, I began sandblasting the right fender. I painted the back of the grille this morning, and I ran out of paint (DP 40). Looks as if next week holds more sandblasting!!
June 7, 1999-I made a brake line. Bill Stripp came over and sandblasted a little to assess the situation and he agreed a change would be good. Mom and Dad talked about buying me tires, which would be great!! It is very hot today and muggy. It is a good thing that we made that brake line. I also torqued the nuts on the rear wheels.
June 8, 1999- I made some phone calls to places that sell tires.
June 9, 1999- Today, I was sandblasting and wire brushing the spare rim that I bought at Sechler motor in Meyersdale. I painted it when I was finished.
June 10, 1999- I painted the grille and some of the paint ran, but it will be sanded later. I sandblasted and painted the toolbox lid using the paint that was left. I finished the spare rim, and now Im ready for new tires. Mom processed the inner headlight rings and the parking light rings by powder-coat painting they at work. They look great!!
June 11, 1999- I picked up tires today. I drove the Jeep out of the garage and prepared to sandblast. I borrowed Bill Stripps compressor. (Vince Pletcher came over).
