| Exodia vs. Destiny Board | ||||
| As Exodia and Destiny Board decks become more popular, I thought it would be a good idea to write an article about these two different decks. I found out that a lot of people like to play with instant win decks, and these two are the best right now. Destiny Board is a highly underrated deck, that is similar to Exodia because you need to collect pieces, but you collect them on the field, not your hand. Exodia decks first. If you put enough stall/draw cards in this deck, it's a force to be reckoned with. Exodia decks need all the draw/stall cards it can get, but Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan are essential for Exodia decks. They provide you protection, and let you get a piece of exodia. I have seen a lot of people play these cards in attack mode, then attack a higher attack monster, which is a great strategy, and you usually dont lose much life points. Also Backup Soldier is a good way to retrieve parts of exodia that have been destroyed. However, there are many flaws to Exodia. In the current environment beatdown, is the most used deck. With out enough cards to protect you, a Beatdown deck is likely to crush an Exodia deck. Also hand disruption is often used in beatdowns, cards like Delinquent Duo and Confiscation are dangerous to Exodia. Of course pieces can always be brought back from your grave with Backup Soldier, but what if "Exodia the Forbidden One " winds up in your grave. If this happens there are very few ways to get it back. Also a common monster in beatdown decks is "kycoo the ghost destroyer", with his ability to remove cards from the game he is a major threat to Exodia. The biggest threat however is, Deck Disruption decks. When facing Exodia, there are more likely to succeed in winning. Now on to Destiny Board. Like Exodia, this to can profit from card drawing. However Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest are not that useful in this deck. With the release of the new fusion monster in LOD "Dark Balter the Terrible", Destiny Board can be comboed with him to protect your messages. It may be extremely hard to get him out though. Imperial Order is probably the best way to protect your messages from M/T removal (Magic and Trap Removal), but it is restricted to 1 so it is hard to get it out. The bad thing about it, it takes up a space in your Magic/Trap card Zone, but you could always get rid of it. Cold wave is a extremely useful card in this deck, it keeps your opponent from using M/T removal, but it also does the same for you. Destiny Board doesn't have as many flaws as Exodia, but it has just 1 big flaw that equals Exodia's flaw, M/T Removal. M/T is a big thing in the English game right now. Many people have cards like Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, and other M/T removal cards. These are devastating for a Destiny Board deck. All your opponent has to do is destroy Destiny Board and you have nothing left. Because all the M/T removal, Magic Jammer is probably your best bet after Imperial order. Have a few of these type of cards in order to counter M/T removal, and all you need is cards to protect your life points until you get all of your messages out. Now, which one is better? Exodia is probably the easier one to run. If you are looking for a Unique and challenging deck, I would go with Destiny Board. But if your looking for a easier deck to run go with Exodia, but Exodia can be challenging depending on what type of it you run. ~Jonathan |
