In 1988 came "Open Up and Say ....Ahh! which has some album cover
ploblems some people "powers that be thought that the face was too much
with the tongue coming out the way it did" so it was changed to show the
eyes . Still a glam band at this point but the music was improving not
to say that the first one was bad just that it got better. With great songs
and videos like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and " Fallen Angel" . Excellent
and on top of the world. Sometime after this glam lost it's popularity
and the guys moved to adjust and continue to prove themselves despite this
stigma.
"Flesh and Blood" , in 1990, this is my personal favorite so far.
They had grown into themselves and became more than a glam band. Showing
that they are true musicians. If you don't get the chance to hear anything
else from them, this one is a must have. "Flesh and Blood Sacrifice" is
amazingly done. Along with the popular and heart wrenching "Something To
Believe In" that was written in dedication to one of their bodyguards and
friends, James Kimo Maano who passed away. The feelings brought to surface
are very real. On to rockers like "Unskinny Bop" which is fun and upbeat.
The video tape that goes with this is also great in the sense that MTV
had cut the version of "Flesh and Blood " for viewers though for the life
of me I can't tell why they did. I see nothing wrong with the full version.
"Swallow This Live" was released which to me seem like a summary
of their music up to this point though it does include some new releases
and some live concert sounds. It is a two cd set. C.C. does not carry well
on this one. His playing here was a disappointment. I really hope whatever
problems that he had are now worked out.
In the middle of this there is a change of guitarist. C. C . is
replaced by Richie Kotzen. Already known in his own right as excellent
with several solos out. They put out "Native Tongue" in 1993 which showed
a definite change in their style if anyone had thought otherwise they had
grown up. With hits like "Stand" to back it up. During or shortly after
this tour Richie Kotzen was replaced with Blues Sarencino because of some
member conflicts. From what I understand now C.C. has returned. If I find
out any different I will update this page to reflect that.
I know that along the course of their career each one of the members
have pursued other endeavors as well. Brett has made a cameo appearance
in a show called "Burke's Law" and has recently directed and starred in
a movie about death row. There is also supposed to be a solo release from
Bret due out in April of this year.

would like to see up also please let us know. THANKS!!!!

*New - Crack a Smile will not be released unless their old record
label decides to release it. *sad* At the moment they are putting out a
greatest hits. Poison is searching through offers for another label and
have been writing . Hopefully there will be a new work out from them in
early 98.
