DCHS MARCHING BAND 2001
Vol. 2 Issue No. 2 June 2001 Greetings!! We are off and running!! Our 2001 season has begun and summer marching band is a big part of our success. Students have shown a great work ethic and a willingness to learn. Below is some very important information that we want each parent to read. Thanks for allowing us the chance to get to know your student! BAND FEES - PAYMENT SCHEDULEAs most of you probably know each student in the band program is assessed a "band fee". This fee is $200.00 for the entire year (excluding winter guard members). Although most people think this fee is simply for marching band, they money helps to sustain the band program for the entire year. The money each student pays is split into various categories such as extra staff, uniform cleaning, food, equipment, music arrangements, drill, etc. A break down would look like this: $200 per student $120 Staffing (music, visual, effect, programming) $50 Drill, choreography, equipment needs, arranging $25 Contest fees (marching, concert, jazz, winter guard , state solo and ensemble) $15 Uniform cleaning, food, semi truck, t-shirt The first payment of $50.00 should have already been paid. If you have not done this try to do so before we end June. The rest of the payment dates are as follows: June 14th 2nd Payment $50.00 July 31st 3rd Payment $50.00 September 27th Last Payment $50.00 *If you can not make a payment please notify us. We will work with you!!!
FUNDRAISINGWe have begun our first fundraiser of the year - Frozen food with the Pizza Man Company. The students are to take orders through Monday June 25th. ALL ORDERS MUST BE IN ON THIS DAY!! The products range from pizza to cookie dough to cheese cakes. The students had the opportunity to taste the product and were impressed. All proceeds go to the New Marching Uniforms (which must be paid for Aug. 5th). Our goal is to have each person sell 10 items! Please support and encourage your student to participate!!
PARADE - July 3rdEach year the Decatur Central Marching Band does a Parade around the July 4th Holiday. This year our band has been invited to participate in the International Lion's Club parade as a part of their international convention. This is quite an honor for the DCHS Band. The parade will feature units from all 50 states and 30 countries. As a part of the is parade we be the host band for the state of New Jersey. The parade is DOWNTOWN Indianapolis and will begin at 10:00a.m. We will have specifics and a schedule out very soon. This is the only parade we will do this summer. We want EVERYONE to march the parade - so plan on attending. Look for an information sheet from your student soon.
PRE-CAMP and BAND CAMPWe will once again be hosting our Pre-Camp and Band Camp at Decatur Central High School. These are two concentrated weeks that will determine much of our success for the upcoming season. The dates are July 30- Aug. 3rd for Pre-Camp and Aug. 6th - Aug. 10th for Band Camp. Pre-Camp schedule: each day 1-4pm and 6-9pm (Friday just 1-4pm). Band Camp week is 9am - 12noon (we serve lunch) 1-4pm and 6-9pm. Friday is 9-4pm) We need 100% participation for each of these two weeks. Our staff will be here to make sure we get the most out of these weeks and we urge parents to look carefully at these dates to avoid any conflicts.
