About Myself

    Hello, my name is J. Marie Larson and I am the founder of Illumine. While I don't hold any degrees in Science, philosophy or religion, I do have a background in Nursing which has given me, on many occasions, a leg up in the studies I have pursued in Metaphysics.
    When I was a Practical Nurse my duties fell somewhere in the realm between the higher degree Doctors and Nurses and the lesser informed (speaking in a broad medical sense only) average, everyday patient. The Practical Nurse was the go-between designed to bridge the gap of information and bring understanding, as well as comfort and healing, to the patient. This is a role I still fulfill in the field of metaphysics. While the information of the intricate workings of the universe are available to anyone at anytime, the more delicate process of filtering through these streams to understand the meanings within, can be frustrating to even the most learned of scholars.
    I am currently a Metaphysical Practitioner/Instructor. As with all things in the ever-changing realm of reality, I am a teacher and I am a student. There are however, those insights that I have come to understand in the relationship between the mind of the human self and the orchestration of the divine universe. Primary is the knowledge that we are all one. If I wish to evolve myself to a higher level or plane of consciousness – if I want to achieve my greatest potential – if I truly wish to create magic or miracles, I must bring everyone else along with me – there is no other way.
    This is my ulterior motive, if you will, to creating a community designed to reach out to others to help them attain their highest potential. I know I will personally benefit by bringing understanding to others. When other people understand and apply the changes into their lives, their changes directly impact my life and my abilities as well. This is the real law of karma or the philosophy behind the phrase "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In order for the human race to evolve and reach it's highest potential we must learn to work together for there is no one part that is greater than the whole.
    As for my writing abilities, they have grown and developed with my spiritual evolution. I have had several poems published, the most recent in the spring 2006 anthology "Ideals for Women" published by Blue Mountain Arts. I have currently stopped submitting my works to focus my writing energies solely on Illumine. While I have the empathetic soul of a poet and the creative imagination to turn a colorful phrase, often this does not suit well the writings of more in-depth subject matter. Bear with me those of you who have a more professional writing sense as my articles are still in the evolutionary stage.

I have had many varied life experiences and I draw upon them all in my writings. I am a mom and long-time single parent. I attended a catholic grade school, but did not pursue the religious beliefs. I have had an alcoholic parent, a manic-depressive borderline schizophrenic ex-husband and a righteously lesbian daughter – all of whom I have grown to love unconditionally. I have worked a 9 to 5 job I detested, I have carpooled kids to day camp during the summer (which they detested) and have received many a helpful word (in their opinion) of how to live my life from well-wishing relatives.

At various times in my life I have been lonely, jealous, anxiety ridden, angry and depressed. I hungered for the truth of my own identity and went in search of it. I have walked deep through the trenches of life and have come out smiling.

It is my only desire to plant the seeds of encouragement and inspiration into the minds of others who seek to know their true potential. It is with a genuine feeling of compassion for those still stuck in the trenches that I offer my hand of understanding as a way out.
