Bringing the light of understanding to the path of everyday life
Media Reviews and Recommendations
Books
Timeless Body,
Ageless Mind - By Deepak Chopra M.D.
I enjoy this
book even though it is an older work of Dr. Chopra's.
Because he
incorporates the field of medicine into the workings of the mind,
this book
goes a long way in helping to reinforce the control we
have over
our physical body.
The Hidden
Messages In Water - By Masaru Emoto and David A. Thayne
It is said
a picture is worth a thousand words. The pictures of water crystals
in this book
certainly help in understanding how words and thoughts directly
influence
the behavior of physical matter.
The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire - By Deepak Chopra M.D.
The Power of
Intention - By Wayne W. Dyer
This book
goes a long way in showing the link between what we think
and our external
circumstances. Dr. Dyer succeeded in constructing a user-friendly
handbook
for achieving your goals.
The Elegant
Universe - By Brian Greene
Briane Greene
does an excellent job presenting scientific information
that encourages
us to explore the furthest reaches of our minds.
Even though
it is science, I don't feel it's too far above anyone's understanding.
The Book of Secrets - By Deepak Chopra M.D.
The Tao of
Physics - By Fritjof Capra
The writings
of Frijof Capra include much about physics. I definitely
enjoy his
linking of science and spirituality, but some of the science can get
a little
heavy if you aren't familiar with physics at all.
How to Know God - By Deepak Chopra M.D.
The Power of
Now - Eckhart Tolle
This is a
wonderful book on learning to live in the moment. If you find
Eckhart Tolle's
book helpful, you may want to continue
with his
book "Practicing the Power of Now"
Belonging to the Universe - By Fritjof Capra
Escaping the Prison of Intellect - By Deepak Chopra M.D.
Videos
The Elegant
Universe - PBS (Based on the book by Brian Greene)
Absolutely
one of my favorites! The graphics and animations alone will keep
even the
most antsy
of individuals in their seat. Science presented in a very light-hearted
manner.
It was originally
a three part series on PBS so the video is quite long - almost 3 hrs.
What the Bleep
Do We Know? - Movie/documentary starring Marlee Maitlin
This is by
far the BEST video for newbies to watch! Anyone just venturing
into the
realm of things metaphysical or mind/body/spirit related
should watch
this video. Again, cute computer animations.
Mind Body and
Soul - PBS - Deepak Chopra M.D.
Even though
Dr. Chopra has newer videos dealing with the same topics
I prefer
this old standard. I like the casual format it's presented in and
I feel
it's very
easy to understand, the viewer doesn't get lost in some of the
extraneous
paraphernalia included in his later videos.
The Power of
Intention - PBS - Wayne Dyer
This video
brings to life the concepts introduced in his book of
the same
name. I find watching videos to reinforce written concepts
extremely
helpful, sometimes using the extra senses (sight and sound)
creates a
greater impact of understanding.
Crash - Movie
starring Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon and Brendan Fraser
This movie
does an exceptional job showing the interconnectedness
of all peoples.
It also shows the true action of karma and the
continuing
cycle of new opportunities.
Neale Donald
Walsch on Relationships - open lecture format
Neale Donald
Walsch uses the positive reinforcement of learning to love
and accept
yourself in the application of creating successful relationships.
Neale Donald
Walsch on Abundance - open lecture format
Using the
positive power of creation this video provides a much needed
service for
those who believe the universe is limited in its resources.
