Little Sparrow
There was a little sparrow
who came to say, "hello."
He perched upon my window
sill,
"It's time to wake, you know."
"The morning sun is shining,
wake up you sleepy head,
it's time to rise and greet
the day,
you must get out of bed!"
I tried to just ignore him
I tightly closed my eyes
I hid under the covers
but could not escape his cries.
The perky little sparrow
kept up his noisy pleas.
"Wake up and see the daffodils,
come out and feel the breeze!"
I finally gave into
his insistent chirps of glee,
I yawned and stretched and
rubbed my eyes
to see what I could see.
The sun indeed was shining
and the flowers were in bloom,
I thanked the little sparrow
as he darted from my room.
The morning held such beauty
I was grateful in the end,
for the constant gleeful chirping
of my little feathered friend.
