about 'Jinks' and it's mad creator

'Jinks' was created in the pages of one of my many notebooks... I think it was a red one. Anyhow. I'd recently become enamoured with the work of Jhonen Vasquez; up until being introduced to JTHM the only comics I'd read were of the Marvel/Image superhero type and I had no idea comic books could be sold with strange, funky-looking art and incomplete backgrounds featuring notes from the artist.

One day I was doodling, something I do often, and I sketched a girl. After a few more sketches, her eyeballs got a lot bigger and Jinks was born. Simon and Debauchery were orignally sketches for a gay couple I was trying to write about for an entry in the Aetheticism Fanfiction contest, 'originals' division. I never wrote the story but converted the boys to toon form and plunked them in the comic. Simon was orignally designed to look like the male counterpart of my sister, Shawna. He later became Japanese for no really good reason other than he looked cuter that way. Debauchery was, from day one, a Kouji Nanjou clone. Shawna's then-boyfriend always seemed to think Deb was modelled after him but he really wasn't. Some of his outfits were, but the actual character was a parody of Ozaki's magnificent bastard from the start.

The next character to be created was actually the first to have a comic... and the one who never actually appeared online: Lazarus. I swear I'll do his story sometime in the future. At this time I also designed 'Carl' who will most certainly show up in the near future as his head is fun to draw.

As for me... I'm dull. 21-year-old Canadian female. You can always read my livejournal.

And that is basically that. If you have any questions you'd like answered about the strip, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] or to bug me on AIM, where my handle is decadentmazohyst.
