| Event log: We left at 0430 today. It was really early. It was dark when we left and didn't get light until 0530. The reason we left so early was to beat the heat. It was cool until I reached Mt. Ord. Just before I reached the mountain, Dave drove up in his mom's car. He decided to bow out of the ride back. He was really tired. I think he is the smartest one of the three. It got hot after climbing Mt. Ord. I waited for Doug at the rest stop ( mile 55). We both had one Camelback bladder left, so the water fountain was a welcome site. The rest stop had vending machines and I think Doug and I spent $6.00 between us on snacks. I think both of us were hungry (we are both tired of the Clif Bars we are carrying). We climbed 7578ft today in 74.75 miles. WHAT A DAY!! Tomorrow we plan on leaving early to try to beat the heat. Once we reach the Mogollon Rim (7500ft) it should be cooler. Mark |
