Event log:  Got up this morning and felt like crap.  Mark really wants to finish this trip, so I let him go on and I called work to come and get me.  (Thanks Kelly)  I am home now, and as soon as I finish updating this site , I am crawling into bed with a bottle of Nyquile!  Kelly informed me that he passed Mark on the road on his way out to get me.  On the drive back, Mark had already made it to the hotel, a 95 mile trip!.  (Man that guy is strong).  There is no phone service from just outside of Springerville all the way to Socorro.  (ex. Magdelana)  So if he runs into trouble he will have to flag down a car.  There are cars on this road... occasionally. Maybe one every 15 - 20 minutes.

   I set out early after Doug called Guy Baker to get a ride home.  It was chilly when I left Eagar/Springerville. I started up the hill to take me out of the "Round Valley".  I was half way up the three mile hill an I heard a metal breaking sound.  I realized that one of my spokes had broken.  I took me thirty minutes to fix.  After that I rode the rest of Arizona(13 miles) with no problems.  Did I mention there is NOTHING between Springerville AZ and Quemado NM?  Well, the scene between the two town is open plains and a lot of cows.  I was about where the 60 sign is on the above map going 30 MPH and the bike started handling funny.  I looked down and my tire's air pressure was about 20PSI (normally 120PSI).  So again I stopped on the side of the road to fix my bike. I had no other problems for the rest of the ride.  I stopped at a cool restaurant in Quemado and ate.  I was off the bike for thirty minutes and I kept looking out the window to see the person coming to "rescue" Doug.  I saw Chris Kelly about 15 miles outside Quemado at 1230 or 1300.  I made to my room in Datil by 1500.
