The Story:
Declan Dunn and Peggy Fowler are polar opposites. He's a believer, she's a skeptic, but together, they investigate miraculous phenomena. Their history goes farther back than just meeting up in the pilot episode. In "Twins", we discovered that they actually attended the same community college for a while and even had a class together. They are both shy at times, though Peggy can be stubborn and fiery when she decides she wants to be. They typically clash on whether the particular phenomenon they happen to be investigating is real or a product of someone's imagination.
Peggy seems to be holding in a lot of anger over her husband's death. She's begun letting Declan into the personal parts of her life, but is hesitant to share too much or let him get too close too fast, most likely out of the fear that she will get hurt or that he won't stick around and she'll be alone again. However, Declan is a patient guy and seems willing to wait as she allows him to inch closer to her heart.
They are still working their way toward each other, but there are obstacles lurking on the horizon. The most obvious being that she isn't ready to let go of her husband's memory yet. She appears to have moved on with her life, though we know, and Declan knows, that the process will be a slow one. The other obstacle is Declan's assistant, Miranda, who appears to have somewhat of a crush on him, though Declan himself is oblivious.
Time will tell what path Declan and Peggy's lives travel, and whether or not those paths overlap, but one thing is certain: the journey so far is proving to be an enlightening period of self-discovery for the cynical Dr. Fowler, still hurting over the loss of her husband, and Declan Dunn looks to be just the man to mend the broken pieces and give her a reason to love again.
