I'm embarrassed it has come to this but I need to ask for help to save my home and keep my family off the street. I've reached the end of my financial rope and I'm trying to hang on.
During the last 2 years I have been laid off from 2 different jobs due to acquisitions and down sizings. During this time I have been out of work for nearly 11 months. I have exhausted all my savings and the money I had set aside for my retirement to keep medical insurance through COBRA for my family. I am no longer eligible for unemployment. In this time my 2 children, ages 9 and 5, have both been hospitalized twice each for different reasons. My one child has a cyst on the brain that required surgery to fix it. Every year he requires a CAT scan to see if the cyst is growing or not. What COBRA insurance has not paid for I have attempted to pay out of pocket. Over the last 18 months we've racked up $17, 500 in medical bills. I have no more savings and the job I have now is temporary. My wife has a seasonal job. The insurance offered through her work would cost more in premiums and deductibles than our current COBRA insurance. I'm asking for help to pay the medical bills we have any get us out of the debt we have accumulated. If I can only finish the certificate program I started 2 years ago I could possibly land a better paying job with medical benefits. But until I pay off the other bills we have I can't finish school.
It's a simple
and small request: If I could get as many people as possible to part with $1,
$2, $5 or even $10 I could be well on my way to paying off our past debts and
finishing school to possibly land a better job with medical insurance. All I'm
asking for is a chance to recover from the hand we've been dealt.
