I Never Got To Know You

I never got to know you
The way I wished I could.
We never spent the time we had
Together like we should.

You were not known as family
But your love would never end.
For all the things you did for me
You're known as a very good friend.

Although I cannot thank you now
I know it's not too late.
For we will meet again someday,
If that will be my fate.

Now as you lie in your casket
With no worries left to hold,
Our lives will never be as good
Or as happy as the old.

Even though it's against your wishes
Grieve is what we must
But know that tears will soon be left
To dry back in the dust.

Rest well now and be cheerful
For Heaven is a wonderful place.
Know that I'll be happy once more
When I see your smiling face.
