Star Trek Voyager
Welcome to my page on Star Trek Voyager. Yes, I am willing to admit that I am somewhat of a Trekkie. I began as a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was quite disappointed when the show was canceled and sorry to all the DS9 fans out there, but it just couldn't compare. I quit watching DS9 after the first season and was resigned to TV without Star Trek.
Then Voyager was released and there was new hope. But the first time I watched the first few episodes I have to say I was disappointed and stopped watching Voyager also. But one lonely night about two years ago I happen to switch on the TV and voila-there was Voyager. I thought "heck, why not give it another shot". And what do you know, now I'm almost as a big a fan of Voyager as I was of the Next Generation.

My Thoughts...
Thoughts on Janeway...
I find Janeway to be one of the more interesting Star Trek captains mainly because I can't decide whether or not I like her. I've only seen a few classic episodes but never really cared for Kirk, I disliked Sisko and loved Picard. But with Janeway, one episode I'll like her and another episode I can't see how the crew puts up with her. For instance, in The Equinox, if I were Chakotay I would have been totally pissed off at Janeway. I couldn't believe she relieved him of duty when he was only telling her what was right. And then of course he easily forgives her in the end. Call me vindictive but I thought he deserved a lot more for what she did merely because she lost her temper. Then again there are those times when she does things like help Seven regain her humanity and I can't help but like her.
Thoughts on Seven of Nine...
I talk to a lot of people about Seven and usually the first thing I hear from the guys are-"Wow, she's really hot" and from girls-"Oh, they just added her for the skin element". Granted Seven is beautiful and has a body to kill for but on the whole I really like her character. I'll admit that I've had a soft spot for borgs trying to regain their humanity ever since Geordi befriended Hugh. I liked most of the episodes dealing with Seven regaining her humanity and the addition of the borg children.
Thoughts on B'Elanna...
If I had to pick one favorite character, it would have to be B'Elanna. I think her character's struggles between her human and Klingon on halves make her one of the most interesting characters. I also see it as an interesting comparison to Worf's character. He was brought up by human parents and had a son who was part human yet he also had to deal with his own Klingon traditions and beliefs. I also admire how strong B'Elanna is. If there's one thing that Voyager does is that it has very strong female characters. Don't get me wrong, I love Deanna Troi, but for the most part she was portrayed as this calm, peaceful person who is rarely aggressive. That character worked but I also like to see this more aggressive woman who can have a bad temper, yet still be a productive and well-liked crew member.
Feb. 11, 2001...Well, I finally have cable now! I'm looking forward to actually being able to watch Voyager without having someone tape it for me. And now I can watch the reruns that air everyday. I'm still trying to catch some of the episodes I haven't seen from past seasons.
Feb. 6, 2001...I find myself frustrated with not being able to watch Voyager in its final season. I have been waiting over a month to have my cable installed. Luckily I was able to have a friend tape Lineage for me. However, I did miss Repentance. Hopefully my cable will be installed soon.
Thoughts on "Q2" aired April 11, 2001...
The last few episodes of Voyager seem to be focusing more on the character interactions rather than Voyager fighting this race or that race. It may seem to get away from what Star Trek used to be but I've been finding these episodes good in a different way. Q2 was interesting because we see a slightly different side to Q. I have to admit it's strange to see him interacting with Janeway rather than Picard but this episode was fun. It's good to see that the Q continuum may be changing the way they behave and treat other species. It was funny to see Q trying to be a parent but it looks like with a little practice he'll be a great dad.
Thoughts on "Human Error" aired Mar. 7, 2001...
I have to admit when I saw the previews for this weeks episode I was thinking, "Oh no, totally exploiting the hot bods". Surprisingly this episode turned out really well, I think they could have advertised it better though. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It sucked that Seven chose not to really pursue human relationships. I suppose they left it open for change but it was kind of a depressing ending. She and Chakotay made a nice couple. Hee hee.
Thoughts on "Workforce, Part II" aired Feb. 28, 2001...
I loved this episode...It was nice to see Janeway let her hair down and actually behave like a normal human being. I also loved watching B'Elanna's "therapy" as she slowly remembered her life with Tom. The only bummer part was of course Janeway not being able to continue her relationship with Jaffen.
Thoughts on "Workforce, Part I" aired Feb. 21, 2001...
This episode is kind of strange but it really left me hanging. I can't wait to see what happens in Part II. I didn't like the Doctor in the role of Emergency Command Hologram. It didn't fit and it pushed him too far back into his old personality of superiority over those around him. As always I enjoy seeing the interplay between Paris and Torres. This was a refreshing way of going back to before they were married and another way their relationship may have evolved.
Thoughts on "The Void" aired Feb. 14, 2001...
This episode wasn't bad but I thought it was one of those episodes in which I really disliked Captain Janeway. I think that if this were actually to happen, Voyager would be destroyed in no time. I hated how she preached about not taking Valen's food or at least some of it to make up for what they lost. It's fine to say no we won't do to others what has been done to us but what if they couldn't figure a way out. So that means Janeway just sentenced her entire crew to death. Fine, I may wait awhile before beginning to break these "Starfleet values" but Janeway doesn't even seem to acknowledge that her decision could mean the death of her entire crew. I did like Fantome even if they didn't play a huge role in this episode other than just being around. He was so ugly that he was kind of cute.
Thoughts on "The Prophecy" aired Feb. 2, 2001...
This episode was great. It was an interesting way to bring in other Klingons that B'Elanna could interact with and learn to accept parts of her Klingon ancestry. I noticed that Paris is starting to look a little ragged. I decided I don't like his hair style. I don't know why the cut started bothering me all of a sudden. Maybe it's because his face looks rounder. I thought Neelix's part in this episode was hilarious. It was funny to see him with a Klingon woman and actually keeping her impressed with his "warrior" attitude.
Thoughts on "Lineage" aired Jan. 24, 2001...
I have mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand I love episodes dealing with B'Elanna and Tom but on the other hand it seemed almost too cliche-ish. I know one of the themes of Voyager is B'Elanna's struggle with her mixed heritage but the way they portrayed it seemed tired and done before. Their having a child should be interesting though. I'm wondering how many episodes it will take until B'Elanna gives birth. I think B'Elanna and Tom make a great couple and I'm glad they made Tom's character settle down with someone.
