Local Undergraduate Elected to attend the International Council of Nurses 21st Quadrennial Congress and Elected to International Honor Society
The Marine Midland Bank, as Trustee of the Helene Fuld Health Trust has announced Debra Andrews with the 1997 Helene Fuld Fellowship Award for New York State. Debra and 51 other outstanding Nursing Students from the United States have been selected from more than 250 nominations to receive this fellowship offer. They will attend the International Council of Nurses 21st Quadrennial Congress meeting held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in June. The selection committee chooses students on demonstrated leadership abilities, academin, and extracurricular achievements.
In addition, Debra has been elected to membership in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Debra will be inducted as an undergraduate student through Epsilon Kappa Chapter at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York on May 10. Sigma Theta Tau International is a prestigious organization of nurse leaders, scholars and researchers. Membership in the society is awarded to bachelors', master's and doctoral nursing candidates who achieve high scholastic averages, and have made outstanding contributions to nursing.
Debra, daughter of Lawrence and Judith Andrews of Seaford, is now a graduate of Molloy College with honors holding her Baccalaureate in Nursing. She is presently working in a Pediatric/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Transport team, and Certified in ECMO (heart and lung bypass circuit.)
