The next day went very slowly. None of us dared to leave the house. The two police officers stayed in Faye's living room. We spent the day watching television. The front door was bolted tight and the windows were locked. We sat on the sofa. Nightfall soon came which we had been dreading all day.
Suddenly we heard a bang coming from up stairs, the sound of lots of pots and pans crashing to the ground.
The two police officers immediately jumped to their feet. The both got out their guns.
"You guys stay here, we'll go and check it out, stay put!" one of the police officers said.
The police officers started to walk up the stairs. Slowly they reached the corridor at the top of the stairs. We waited and waited. They were taking along time. We began to get even more worried.
"Should we go and check on them" Faye cried.
"I don?t know, I'm sure they're fine, just checking every room and that," I replied.
"Come on guys, let's go!" Debra stood to her feet.
We all headed for the stairs. And slowly, one foot at a time walked up the stairs to the landing at the top. It was so quiet; we couldn't see either of the officers. We opened the bedroom door and looked around. There was nothing. We then walked over and opened the bathroom door. The light was off. Faye reached for the light and turned it on. We all screamed with terror as we saw what state the bathroom was in. Lying in front of us was one of the officers with blood pouring from his wounds. Blood and body parts were scattered around the room. Them we noticed the bath. It was filled with water and one of the officers was lying in the water. The water was red from where his blood had covered it. Blood dripped from the ceiling and dripped down the wall. The whole room was covered in it.
"Let's get out of here!" Debra screamed.
We shut the door and ran quickly down the stairs. We reached the front door and banged on it. It was locked and wouldn't open.
"The door is locked. Faye where's your key?" I screamed.
"It's in the living room, I'll go get it!" Faye replied.
Faye ran into the living room and grabbed the key from the table. She started to run back when something grabbed her. The figure was holding her tight.
"Help!" Faye squealed.
Debra and I both quickly turned around. We saw the black figure holding onto Faye. He put his knife up to her neck.
"What do you want?" Debra screamed.
"Now that would be telling!" The figure growled, his voice was low and quiet.
"What do we do?" I whispered.
"I don't know!" Debra replied.
The figure got inpatient and stabbed Faye in the leg. She screamed as the figure threw her behind him. We ran forward and grabbed his hand that was holding the knife.
I tripped his up and he fell to the ground. His knife flew across the room. The figure and Debra ran to his knife and both jumped on the floor. They both tried to grab it. I kicked the figure away from Debra. He ran at me and pushed me to the floor. He started to strangle me and choke me. Debra jumped on the figures back and grabbed him away, then he started he strangle her, squeezing her neck.
"You Phsyco!" I screamed.
"I know, isn't it great!" The figure laughed.
I ran to the kitchen that was next door and picked up a carving knife from the drawer. I ran back into the room. I stabbed the figure in the back. He rolled over in pain and Debra held the figures knife and stabbed his several times in the stomach until he was dead. We both collapsed on the floor exhausted.
Suddenly the figure jumped to his feet and ran to us. We quickly grabbed the knife's again and stabbed him repeatedly until he crashed through the window and fell to the ground.
A few seconds passed before we ran to Faye who was bleeding on the floor. Debra called the ambulance and police. It took them a while to arrive but they did. Faye was carried away and put in the ambulance while the police talked to us. We stood looking at the figure. The police officer removed the figured mask. His face looked normal. He had short black hair and blue eyes.
"Jack Mason!" The police officer sighed.
"Excuse me," Debra replied.
"His name is Jack Mason," the officer continued, "we have been looking for him for months, he takes a fancy to women and when he realises he can't have them, he will do everything in his power to kill them. Looks like you were the next on his list"
That would explain it, we had a lucky escape. Faye was fine. They bandaged her leg and she had to rest for a few months. She also had to be given some blood because she had lost quite a lot.
The was the end of probably the worst week of my life, but it brought myself, Debra and Faye closer together as friends. But I would never re live what happened that week; it was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me.
