For Him
For him I would catch the moon
And place it in the safety of his hands
Teach him of kings and queens
From fantasy and far away lands
Hold kittens for him to pet
As I teach him to do it “gentle”
For they are as delicate as you
Like you were when you were little
I will brush his hair from his face
And beam when I hear him whine mother
For he is my first born son always
Never to be replaced by any other
I see him yearn to sit up already
To young I tell him as he fights
As he grows and develops so early
I see that his passion is right
So I will show him of kingdoms to rule
And stars he can reach out to touch
I will show him that love is eternal
For he will know that I love him that much
I will give him all that he demands
Like learning right from wrong
And I will always treasure the moment
He begs me to sit and sing our song
I hope that in mother days to come
He will remember the mom in me
Who wants to teach him to lasso a dream
That whatever he has faith in can be
