CHAPTER ONE THE PROMISE OF EVERLASTING LIFE All of Salvation rests in our believing on the name of Jesus; and, that he became sin for us and suffered the penalty of death in our place. By that, we could take on His righteousness by promise and faith, letting Jesus live and minister through His Spirit in our ‘NOW’ righteous bodies. Accepting Jesus as Lord of our lives, is the first step in procuring all the precious promises of salvation, including our Father’s provision for us (i.e. health, prosperity, life, etc.). John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Jesus guarantees that in Him you will be free from sin. You will have peace beyond our understanding; and if you were to die this second, you would go straight to heaven to live forever with the Lord. Deliverance from guilt of sin is found in one man, the person of Jesus Christ. He loved you by giving His life (in your place) at Calvary. He defeated Satan in Hell, rose on the third day and gave us back ‘our’ dominion over this earth and our lives. John 8:36 “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” YOU CAN STILL GET RIGHT WITH JESUS! There have been so many people I ministered to that have been convinced by Satan’s lies that they have sold their souls to the devil; and that they CANNOT partake in Salvation through Jesus Christ. I am taking this opportunity to clear this question up; so that some very precious souls, who believe they have gone too far, can be set free. I have ‘met’ people who are lost and sold out to satan. They are not even capable of questioning whether it’s too late for them. They don’t care and they would not wonder about it. There is ONE sin unto spiritual death. That sin is rebellion against God, after already partaking of Jesus’ Salvation and becoming a mature Christian. All other sin only kills the flesh, not the spirit. A new Christian cannot commit this sin of spiritual death. Only the mature believer can commit this sin, after having tasted the good things of God’s kingdom. They have to rebel against God and what they know is the truth, then they openly and defiantly sin, knowing their reward will be death and damnation. A non-believer is NOT capable of dying the spiritual death because in order to die, you must first be alive; and he has not yet been a partaker in God’s Kingdom on Earth, or of Salvation. If you have a conscience and wish you could change the things you have done, you CAN! All you have to do is turn around. Jesus is waiting for you. He will cleanse you of all unrighteousness. A Non-believer WILL go to Hell if he never asks Jesus into his heart, and dies before he will do this. That is why satan lied to you. He wants you to go to Hell before you find out that you still CAN come to Jesus. Satan is a liar. He has deceived you! Turn around! Go to Jesus and He will deliver you from satan’s power and take you just as you are into His Glory! I Peter 1:3-9 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 4) “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5) “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6) “wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations 7) “that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8) “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9) “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” I Cor. 2:9,10 “but as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10) “But God hath revealed them unto us by His spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” I Cor. 2:14-16 “But the ‘natural man’ receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15) “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16) “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” I Cor. 6:3 “Know ye not that we shall judge the angels? How much more the things that pertain to this life?” Some people wonder why Jesus is using me, the least likely person?!! I Cor. 1:25-29 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26) “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27) “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty: 28) “And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29) “That no flesh should glory in his presence.” II Cor. 4:15-18 “For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16) “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17) “For light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18) “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” II Cor. 4:5 “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” II Cor. 4:6-11 “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give the light of knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7) “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8) “We are troubled on every side, yet we are not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9) “Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10) “Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11) “For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” II Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things (for that man) are become new.” Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” John 1:12 “As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God.” I have known Jesus for 21 years. In my life, I have heard many excuses of why people ‘put off’ coming to Jesus. Several of those excuses go like this: 1) I need to clean up my life first. 2) I’m young and want to have fun first. 3) I have a problem with a certain church or Christian people. 4) God doesn’t exist. 5) God did such and such and he is not a good God to let that happen. 6) God doesn’t love me because, if he did, he wouldn’t have done___. 7) I prayed once for __, who was sick and they died anyway. 8) God doesn’t answer my prayers. 9) I will call on Jesus later. 10) I am waiting until I am older because I’ll have to give up every thing that is exciting in my life. 11) I don’t have time for God right now. This book of Promises was written for you! Let me tell you that before I met Jesus, I was shy, felt unloved and rejected, in bondage to habits, and my life was about as empty as a Saturday night beer bottle on Sunday morning…even though I was doing all the ‘fun’ things. Since giving my life to Jesus, I have not had a dull moment. I have changed. I am having ‘good’ fun and extreme excitement. My life could not be any more full than it is now. It is in my power, with Jesus, to help shape tomorrow by faith. The same power is yours, if you can believe. It is not God’s plan to have you change yourself. If ‘you’ could change yourself, why would you need Jesus? God called you just as you are, no matter how unclean you feel you are, or how guilty you are. He loves you and wants you (even though)! It is in coming to spiritual life in Christ that you find the power to ‘do’ what Jesus puts into your heart to change. He doesn’t want you to do anything against your will. Remember, we are saved by grace, not by our own works. God did not change my old habits overnight; but he gave me time to grow in his word and to learn and to know the character of God. Knowing Jesus made me want the coming changes in my heart. Christians do have fun. We joke and play and love and give and receive just like everyone. But we do it the right way, which means our fun is much more rewarding than the old kind of fun. Christians also have a hero and a purpose. We inherit power to do what we never were able to do before. We fight mighty battles with supernatural foes and win every time. We live an abundant life through Christ, which strengthens us. We defeat sickness, poverty and even death through faith in the Word of God. God did not ask you to give anything up; he wanted to give something to you! As you read this book, think on these promises that we obtain through faith by the Word of God, and by believing on the name of Jesus Christ. The only difference between a person who has come to Jesus and one who has not made that decision as yet, is that the believer’s debt for their sin was cancelled. Now, forgiveness and all the promises in the bible belong to the one who is in Christ. The only thing that person lost was the baggage and worry that they used to carry on their shoulders; and most of all their death sentence, which Jesus took on himself. For the person who has not yet made a decision to ask Jesus into his heart and to forgive his sin, there is spiritual death. We don’t know when we will be taken out of this world. There may not be time to talk to Jesus when we are dying. Therefore, ask now! When Jesus has already ‘given’ you a pardon for your sin, it is an open shame if you ignore what He did and you have to pay your debt (of death) anyway. Salvation is a gift. But to receive any gift, you have to reach out and take it. Please don’t be one of the ones whom get left behind! CHAPTER TWO THE PROMISE OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT He was innocent. From his birth, he learned about God and God spoke to him. When he reached adulthood, he was compelled to leave his Father, Mother, brothers and sisters to do God’s work. He taught in the local synagogues with authority and amazed the wise men and priests. His words came forth as truth and His disciples grew with Him in power and faith. He received authority and anointing from God, the Father to work miracles and do what no other man had done before. Though he was tempted, as are all other men, he was without sin. He raised the dead, healed the sick, and delivered the captives; and every word he spoke came to pass. The religious leaders were jealous of his following, and plotted against him, to kill him. And one of his own followers delivered Him over into the hands of those who wanted to destroy Him, for 30 pieces of silver. They took this man and beat him with a ‘cat of nine tails’ (a whip with 9 leather straps which held a nail or sharp metal object on the end of each). They hit him 39 times, so that when they were through, his flesh hung off of his back in ribbons. He kept his mouth shut, even in knowing that he was innocent. They mocked him that he was a king and told him to save himself. Then, they purged him (gave him poison which left him weak and sick). They fashioned a crown for him out of thorn bushes; and they pounded them into his skull. Then they took him to the Governor to obtain a death sentence for Him. He would not defend himself. The Governor could find no fault with the man, so he offered the Jews to release one of the prisoners, either the innocent man, or a known thief. They released the guilty one. He was turned over into the hands of the Roman soldiers, who forced him to carry a cross up the mountainside of Golgotha (the place of execution). They removed his garments and laid his raw back upon the cross. They nailed his hands and feet to the cross, and then raised it up, dropping it’s base into the ground, tearing his ligaments and muscles in the process. Then the soldiers cast lots for his clothing, dividing their spoils between them. As the man hung from the cross in agony with his life’s blood dripping to the ground, a soldier threw a spear into his side, releasing a river of innocent blood and water. As the man was breathing his last breath, the people observing, heard him say “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” This man was Jesus, who was given willingly as a blood sacrifice for your sins. Jesus who died in your place has canceled your death sentence, for all the sins you have committed. Isaiah 53:2 “...he hath no form of comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3) “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised and we esteemed him not. 4) “Surely, he hath borne our grief’s, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5) “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes (from the cat of nine tails) we are healed. 6) “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7) “He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” THIS WAS LOVE AND COMMITMENT, as was promised by the Prophets. I Corinthians 13:8 “Love (or Charity) never fails.” Just like Jesus showed us His love and commitment by giving His life for us; we also are commanded to love each other in like manner. Most of the time the people who need our love the most, are the ones which are the least lovable. They have usually become the way they are because they have been hurt or deceived by someone or something they went through. They need to be shown Jesus’ love through us, who believe. I wanted to know what the definition of love was. Most people would give a definition of what love does. If you need to know how love acts, read I Corinthians, chapter 13. But, I found love means: to cherish and protect someone. Jesus cherished us by putting our needs before his own. Jesus protected us by dying for us in our place. “Greater love has no man, than to give his life for his friend.” Love will reach even those deeply rooted in sin, and bring them to Christ more quickly than any other thing you could say or do for them. Everyone recognizes an act of love. Satan has no defense against love. The world desires love. Love will NOT fail to reach even the most broken-hearted. Love will conquer hate. Love will soothe your pain. Love will rebuild relationships. Love will make a strong man bend his knees and cry his first real tears. Love will make a way when nothing else will. Love seers the most hardened conscience. Love can break through your pain to where you live. JESUS IS LOVE! CHAPTER THREE THE PROMISE OF PROVISION In every young child, there is a fearlessness, a sense that they will be here forever; an ‘it can’t happen to me syndrome’. We, as adults, assume that this concept comes from immaturity and that at some point before adulthood, reality will come. But, I say that according to scripture and divine understanding, God gives a living soul to every baby born; a soul that, from the moment it was created until it was housed in a child at conception, was living in the presence of the almighty God. Since babies come from heaven and their spiritual father, they are born innocent, with a deep trust of their parents, and a child’s acceptance of what they are told. Children will balance in thin air with no fear (there is no fear in heaven) and children will sense no danger (there is no danger in heaven). They have to learn fear and to be careful here because their father provided for them in heaven. All through the bible, God has told us to have no fear, to fear not, to be courageous, and to trust Him with our life, like a child trusts. And a child does that until we teach him otherwise…because of “our” fears. Children seem to know that we are made immortal, like God. They do not worry about accidents, sickness, where food will come from, what they will wear, what they will drink. It is when the mind thinks on carnal things instead of Godly things, that worry and doubt find a place in our lives. Consider these scriptures: Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Mark 10:15 “Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” Matthew 18:3-6 “Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of heaven. 4) “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. 5) “And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6) “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” The Kingdom of God includes the believer’s walk here on earth. The Kingdom of God began for believers with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and even NOW IS for the believer, if he has the faith. Every thing we believe God for, after the remission of our sins when we are also by faith saved, is come to us by having the faith of a child. Definition of SALVATION: The process or state of being saved; deliverance or preservation from evil or destruction; deliverance from the penalty, pollution and power of sin. Salvation includes healing, prosperity, answered prayer, and every thing we receive from God, especially the power of the Holy Spirit that gives us the gifts of the spirit and the dominion over our circumstances. Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink: nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26) “Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27) “Which of you by taking thought (worrying) can add one cubit unto his stature? 28) “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29) “And yet I say unto you that even Soloman in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30) “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31) “Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32) “(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33) “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU. 34) “Take therefore no thought (don’t worry) for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:9-13 “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our father, which art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. 10) “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done IN EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. 11) “Give us this day our daily bread. 12) “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13) “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever. Amen”. People with closed minds can never grow or get better or smarter. They have a preconceived notion (usually of the worst scenario imaginable), and will not believe anything else. I can relate to this as I came from there also, but thank God, I am still alive because I changed the way I think and I acknowledged the omnipotence of God. The only thing that limits God’s provision in our lives is “how small our mind is, and how receptive we are to learning the truth…even if we had thought we were right”. Unfortunately, most people who call themselves Christians, do not believe in the Power of the Almighty God. They choose to put on the back burner the fact of our creation from just a spoken word by God. They look at nature and the wonders of this world and universe and all they see are trees and sky and grass, and most of them would rather think that two atoms accidentally bumped into each other one day, and all this wonder just happened and evolved. It is easier for me to believe in a creator which created all of this and us with the creativity and wonder of a supernatural father … who not only made us, but made us with love and with our needs in mind … and who has provided for us just like or better than we would provide for our own children. (Matthew 7:11) We would never send off our children without food, medicine, clothes, and shelter and a promise that if they needed anything, just to pick up the ‘phone’ and ask. We would leave them a number to reach us with and give them directions home. And do you know what? God did just that and he gave us directions to food, medicine, health, clothes, shelter, and the ultimate directions to get home at the end of our journey, and he told us how to call on him if we got into trouble. He promised he would come to our rescue if we called on him. But some people refuse to call on him. They think he is too busy, or too big to think about their problems … yet, He loved us so much that he even covered our sins with our brother, Jesus’ blood, so that no matter how far we alienated ourselves from him, we could always be sin free (by the blood of the lamb) enough to go to him. He wants us to come to him. If not, he would have told us so. It’s all in his word … but people would rather read fiction or some other human beings account of how to copy what God has already given to us, than just to read the Book and pray (talk to) our Father. It grieves me when people won’t listen to God through his word. I can understand your not listening to me, because I am human and I can be wrong … but what I have told you about God is true. You can look it up for yourself in the Bible. Don’t just take my word for anything. I may be no one in myself, but if a dog brings you the infallible word of God, it is still the Word of God being delivered to you. It still is full of power and truth. CHAPTER FOUR PROMISE OF DOMINION Daniel 7:27 “And the Kingdom and Dominion, and the greatness of the Kingdom under the whole Heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and all Dominions shall serve and obey him.” He made us in His Image. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” The New Websters International Dictionary list the following definitions of the noun, Image: Image: noun, root – to imitate. 2) a thing actually or seemingly Reproducing another, a copy or counterpart; 6) something that Possesses or displays a given quality to such a degree as to Bring it vividly to the mind, a representative, a type. 7) something That represents, or is regarded as representing another thing; a Symbol. Genesis 1:28 “…and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, and replentish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion….over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Dominion: to have complete control, to rule, the act of using Absolute authority. Luke 25:49 “And, behold, I send the ‘promise’ of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power; after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Luke 22:29,30 “And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me. 30) “That ye may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom…” Mark 16:15-18 “… go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16) “He that believeth not shall be damned. 17) “And these signs shall follow them that believe: in my name, (under his anointing) shall they cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues: 18) “They shall take up serpents: and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” In the beginning, man was created like God, with similar qualities and dominion over the earth as his Father. Man was to be in subjection only to God. All through the gospel, Jesus told us to trust him, to seek him, to believe him as children. When Adam and Eve tasted of the tree of knowledge at the temptation by Satan, they lost this trust of their God, and it was then that they started being careful, worrying, and seeking answers to questions that had already been answered by their Father, God. What they lost was their memory of the provision of their Father and the security that being in communion with God the father brings. The Holy Bible is a blueprint of how it is in heaven and how it should be on Earth when we get back what satan stole from Adam. This book is written to remind you of the Promise of a Good Father and give you confidence so you will not fear, but live by faith in God. Jesus died and spent three days in the bowels of hell taking back the dominion satan stole from Adam. Then, he rose again in victory, and for 40 days walked the earth in dominion once again. This same dominion of Adam, is ours now in Jesus’ name, under the same God appointed anointing that Jesus had through the Holy Spirit. It is ours, but if we won’t take on this dominion and power, we are the same as Adam was after his fall. A king or someone in authority is of no effect unless he takes the dominion he was given and applies it to his circumstances. Your dominion is as good as the person using it, or not using it. CHAPTER FIVE THE PROMISE OF BENEFITS THROUGH OUR INHERITANCE BE AN OVERCOMER Like most things worth having in this life, benefits are usually something obtained by working for them. Forgiveness of sins is a gift and a chief benefit included in Salvation by Promise. In fact, if you don’t become a partaker in any of the other benefits, please do accept the gift of eternal life just by believing in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God, who died for the world’s sin, was raised up again by the Father in Heaven, and is even now alive in Heaven, and still lives on earth through us who believe. Then ask Jesus to come into your life, forgive your sin and be your Lord. But, If you are ambitious enough to want to Partake of God’s Kingdom while on earth, you must know what the other benefits of salvation are; then, reach out for them by faith. Abundant life comes from finding out what can belong to you; and then pursuing it. Consider the following analogy: “The Last Will And Testament Of Jesus Christ” According to the Bible, we are “the heirs of Salvation” through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:15-17 “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16) “For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17) “For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.” The New Testament is a blood promise of Jesus Christ and His Last Will and Testament before He died. Jesus guarantees His believers a part in His kingdom, even yet as they are still on earth. Now, if someone is given as an heir in a Last Will and Testament, they must read the Will after the death of the Testator, so that they know what they were left in the estate. Jesus left us His Kingdom and directions on how to obtain what we received. If your father died and left a Will, but you did not go hear the reading of the Will and you were not informed what you had inherited, you would still be an heir and legally entitled to what was yours. But, if you didn’t know he left you $1,000,000 in First National Bank and you didn’t find out the account number and the stipulations on how to withdraw the money, your inheritance (although legally it is yours) is of no value to you. The same is true of the Last Testament of Jesus Christ. Here on earth, we can become a partaker in God’s kingdom if we read the Will and do what it tells us to do. We are legally bound to “seek the Kingdom of God” while we are here, if we are to use our inheritance now. So read God’s Word and the Last Testament of our Lord, Jesus Christ and see what you are legally entitled to here and now. “And they (the Saints) overcame him (satan) by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of THEIR testimony.” Rev. 12:11 Psalm 103:2-6 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3) “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities: who healeth all thy deseases: 4) “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies: 5) “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6) “The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.” The BENEFITS of Salvation, when we grab hold of it, have already been paid for by the Blood of Jesus. We do not have to pay the price to be a PARTAKER of what is already ours. We do need to take our receipt, the Word of God, to the devil and TESTIFY to him that the price has already been paid for our health, life and deliverance by the Blood of Jesus. Then, satan, with NO ARGUMENT has to let go and allow us to have what Jesus already paid for. YOU’VE GOT THE RECEIPT! (Your Bible) Now if you are sick, dying, or living in poverty, satan has stolen from you what God meant for you to have. If a man steals from you on Earth, are you going to meekly go and tap on his door and say “could you please give me back what you stole from me?” in a little tiny fearful voice??? No, you go and kick down his door and demand that he return what he stole. This is true with satan also. Satan is not going to give to you anything if he knows you are wimpy and afraid and have no confidence. (I John 5:14) You must through the word of God gain confidence that what God said about a situation is the truth. Then, you know what is yours and you go kick down Satan’s door and demand what is yours with your receipt, the Word of God. Amen! If God be for you, who can stand against you? Genesis 22:15-18 “And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time. 16) “And said ‘By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17) “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply they seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18) “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” Many people don’t realize that God gave ‘his’ only son for the remission of sin because of the righteousness of Abraham, in NOT withholding ‘his’ only son from God. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth. 2) “And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee IF thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.3) “Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4) “Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5) “Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6)“Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7) “The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8) “The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 9) “The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. 10) “And all people of the Earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of thee. 11) “And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give to thee. 12) “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend to many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13) “And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them. 14) “And thou shalt not go to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other Gods to serve them.” These benefits of inheritance are further witnessed by these scriptures: Isaiah 7:14 “therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.” And the blessings of Abraham came down through the generations of Abraham’s seed to bring about a savior for all nations, (i.e. Jesus Christ) according to the Promise. Galatians 3:29 “And if ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Matthew 1:20-23 “… behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21) “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he shall save his people from their sins. 22) “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, saying, 23) “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is ‘God with us’.” More Benefits One time when Shelly, my youngest child was a small baby, she developed a high fever about 106 degrees and started into convulsions. I called paramedics, and used ice to bring down her temp. At the hospital, they gave Shelly Phenobarbital to keep her from having any more Grand Mal Seizures. They wanted her to continue on this medication for the rest of her life. This drug dulls the mind and slows down response time. I decided to take her off the drug and believe God for her healing. When her doctor found out that I did this, he threatened to take Shelly away from me if she even had one more seizure. In the face of this ‘power’ telling me I might even loose my daughter, I still trusted God and kept her off the medication. Shelly is 21 years old today, and she never had another seizure. God is faithful to perform what we speak in his name and by faith. “God hastens to his word to perform it.” This ‘Promise’ provided a benefit and way of escape for my daughter so that she would not be in bondage to medication for the rest of her life. CHAPTER SIX THE PROMISE OF CONFIDENCE AND TRUTH (God’s Words Create, Therefore They Are Full Of Promise) Why trust your life and spirit to the interpretations of other men? To the reader, I recommend that when your very existence and your success is at stake, it is imperative that you, yourself go to the source of the information. Don’t take another man or woman’s instruction (even mine) without personally confirming it with God’s Word in your bible. Man can be in error. It doesn’t matter how spiritual a human is, he can be wrong. It is so important that you let God speak to YOUR heart through his living Words! Your life depends on the truth and the truth shall set you free! (John 8:32) Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me woid, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Psalm 119:89 “Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” God’s word never changes with the times. He is consistent to the end of time. John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 15:3,4 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and the perfect will of God.” You are recreated by God’s Word being placed before your eyes, in your mouth and keeping it in your heart. To be conformed means to be pressed into a different mold, and although you are still essentially of the same makeup as before, you have changed shape or direction; To be transformed means to be completely recreated into something that did not exist before. John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.” God’s word produces a brand new you! You are not the same person after being transformed. And, you are able to operate in the spiritual realm and partake of God’s Kingdom on Earth. I Thessalonians 2:13 “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.” You must be recreated (transformed) to be born of the spirit so you can be alive in Christ. God’s word is life to man’s spirit just as food is life to your body. Romans 8:1-14 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2) “For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3) “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. 4) “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. 5) “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit the things of the spirit. 6) “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Joshua 1:8-9 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9) “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Matthew 4:4 “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Ephesians 6:10-18 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11)“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12)”For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13)”Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14)”Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness: 15)”And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16)”Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17)”And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18)”Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” Matthew 11:5-6 “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6)”And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.” Matthew 6:33 “But seek you first the Kingdom of God (by God’s Word), and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (what you eat, drink, wear, etc.) Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21)”Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22)”For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (some versions say medicine to all their flesh) Psalm 103:2 “Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits.” Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man that he should lie.” Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, I change not.” More Truth When you buy a car, you receive an owners manual with important and pertinent information you need to drive and take care of your car. So it is when you become a Christian, you receive a manual with all the rules and instructions on how to get the most out of your new faith. It is a personal promise to you and a warranty of sorts which if followed precisely, will gain not only eternal life for you, but informs you of benefits you now can tap into. So it is with your Christian walk. You must know the rules (the spiritual laws) that make things work for you to be blessed. If you don’t study the “manual” you could get into serious trouble or be hurt or even killed. If you take your new car out on the road without learning how to drive it, and without knowing how to take care of your car, you can get into serious trouble or get hurt, or even killed. (Romans 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death…”) The word of God in your life (your manual) is indeed comparable to the owners manual of a car. It tells you how to care for your car, so you will receive the best benefits from it. The bible tells you how to take care of your spirit man and how to receive benefits from God. Without the words written to help you and bring to your understanding the truth that works for your benefit, there will be no confidence in what you are trying to accomplish. (I John 5:14,15) CHAPTER SEVEN THE PROMISE OF POWER AND AGREEMENT Our Words Are To Line Up With God’s Words… Matthew 18:18 says: “Verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 18:19 goes further to say: “I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” If two men can accomplish any thing when in agreement, how much more so can we accomplish being in Agreement with God’s own words? In my experience, I have heard a lot of people’s attempts at praying. Here is how I present a request before God’s throne of Grace. I am telling you how I pray because I get positive results when my prayers are prayed according to scriptural truths. Every prayer of mine is answered every time. Even though I may not see it right away, they will come to pass. Only my own doubt and unbelief can stop my prayers from manifesting. This applies to anyone who knows how God’s principles work. First, I always claim the scripture, John 14:14, “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” The Lord told us to come boldly before his throne of grace, so I always bring with me when I approach God, some of his own words and promises, so that I can remind him what he said on the matter. It’s sort of like when we were children, we would remind our parents when they had promised us something. It always worked for me. So armed with God’s own words, which I believe, I approach His throne in reverence and as his child, knowing that I am welcome there and have an invitation from him in his word. (god said to come to him as a trusting child) I wait on him to acknowledge my presence, then I plead my case before him. You see, I have read and studied God’s word, and I know what is and what is not in His Will. I would never ask God to do something that is against His Own words. It just isn’t done with success. But, I also come to him in worship and praise. It never hurts when a child wants something, for them to “butter up” (or praise) their parents before the big questions is asked. Some religious people do not praise God … but I have never known a parent yet that could resist a compliment from their child and hearing what a good parent they are. Do you really think that God would get angry or thing you were overbearing or a fanatic if you tell him you love him and praise him all of the time? No! That is what the carnal mind thinks of Christians who are full of the joy of the Lord and constantly praising God. I am sure, as a parent, God likes it, though! Wouldn’t you, if your child just loved you so much that they constantly told you so??? And when I praise God, I make sure that my heart is in agreement with whatever I say or ask. God knows when I am lying or bending the truth. When I have told him what a great father he is, I start out by explaining my request to him. I have it all planned out, researched, and I know what I am talking about. I have some pretty good reasons for what I am asking, and like I said, I recount to my father what his own thoughts on the subject were. I also remind him that he did this for so and so. (this is really coming to him boldly, just like he said I should.) Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” After I present my plan to him and ask him with confidence, I thank him in advance for what he is about to do. In Ist John 5:14,15, it says that we should have confidence that if we know God hears us, that we already HAVE the petitions we set before him. This means that even before we see the answer in this world, we should know at the moment we ask, that God has already spoken our request and all we have to do is wait for it to manifest in this physical world. We cannot sit around and wonder “if” God heard us, or “if” God will do what we asked. This is doubt and unbelief. Doubt and Unbelief are two things that will stop our prayers from manifesting to us. After I have done all that God’s own words told me to do, I wait! Remember, God said in his Word, “Wait on the Lord.” Don’t dwell on how God is going to do what you ask, or what is going to happen to bring it about. Don’t limit God by only accepting what you asked to happen the way you think God will do it! Let God judge how to get done what you asked. He knows best. After all he will be doing the works. Just go on in confidence that God is able to do more than we could ever ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 “God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that worketh in us.” Power of the Tongue Matthew 12:34 “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35)”A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36)”But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37)”For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” James 3:2-18 “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3) “Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 8) “Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. 9) “Even so, the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 10) “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 11) “For every kind of beasts, and of birds and of serpents and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind; 12) “But the tongue can no man tame: it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 13) “Therewith bless we God; even the Father, and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similtude of God. 14) “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be. 15) “Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 16) “Can the fig tree, my brethren bear olive berries? Either a vine figs? So can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. 17) “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 18) “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 19) “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 20) “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 21) “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated; full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy. 22) “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” So, the tongue is a source of power according to the Word. Here are some more scriptures that give you some more insight into how powerful and important our own words are and why they should be in line with god’s words: Mark 11:22-24 “Have faith in God. 23) “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall SAY unto this mountain (Your problems), be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he SAITH shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he SAITH. 24) “Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye DESIRE, when ye pray, BELIEVE that you RECEIVE them, and ye shall HAVE them.” Matthew 21:21 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree (Jesus caused a fig tree to dry up from the roots with words), but also, if ye shall say unto this mountain, be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done. 22) “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ASK in prayer, BELIEVING, ye shall receive.” Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge (of his word), I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Hosea 4:14 “Therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.” Ephesians 4:29-32 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30) “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31) “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice: 32) “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” John 14:12-14 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also: and GREATER works than these shall he do; because I go to my Father, 12) “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 13) “If ye shall ask anything IN MY NAME, I will do it.” The Word says ‘we’ believers will do greater works than Jesus! Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.” What Does “In My Name” Mean??? THE DEFINITION OF ‘CHRIST’ Christ was not Jesus’ last name. If any, His last name, in his time, would have been Carpenter or Carpenterson. Most men’s last names in that time reflected their occupation. Christ means “the Anointed One and His Anointing”. The anointing of oil in the bible is symbolizing having God’s own power rubbed onto you. Whenever God anointed someone, they received God’s own power because God placed this ‘power’ in them and on them. Jesus was ‘anointed’ at his baptism by John (symbolized by the appearance of the dove which rested upon him after water baptism). This is why we are baptized, to symbolize this same power that came on Jesus coming on us by faith. (Being baptized is putting action to our faith) When we receive salvation by believing that Jesus died and shed his blood to cover (or cancel) our sin, we become ‘anointed’ by God and are transformed from darkness to light, from spiritual death to spirtitual life by the POWER of God’s anointing with the very blood of the Lamb, Jesus. Now, we call Jesus ‘the Christ’ because he was anointed (with God’s Power and Authority) by the Father, to do His Works. Since His transformation, Jesus ‘Carpenterson’, became Jesus Christ (the anointed one and his anointing). Remember, God said or called something and it was. (See Genesis 1:1-31) Also, Abram’s name was changed by God to Abraham (Father of Nations) because he was to become a father of nations. (Genesis 17:3,4) God changed Jacob’s name to Israel (meaning God’s people) [Genesis 35:10] In the same manner, Jesus, the carpenter’s son became Jesus, the anointed one and his anointing (i.e. Jesus Christ). We, as believers, call ourselves ‘Christians’ because we become what we are called by faith. This means we can become anointed with the very same anointing of Jesus. We call ourselves ‘Christian’ by faith, because we believe the power of God has come on us. CHAPTER EIGHT THE PROMISE OF HEALTH James 5:13-16 “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. 14) “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 14) “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 15) “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Sometimes God miraculously heals in order to get someone’s attention, and sometimes by compassion – but to stay in health, you need to learn to use your own faith. God’s word is the blueprint to finding the answers of how to tap into the power and authority, which Jesus gave to believers, so they can taste the Kingdom of God on Earth. Matthew 9:22 “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole.” Matthew 9:29 “According to your faith, be it unto you.” Indeed, if you have been given such power, what could possibly be of more importance than seeking this information for your own use in God’s Word. Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and medicine to all their flesh.” Matthew 10:1 “And when he (Jesus) had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” I John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” The promises of God in his word specifically inform us that we are entitled to certain privileges as a part of our salvation by Jesus Christ. These privileges include healing, prosperity, and a covering for sins but only if the believer can believe and doubt not. “All things are possible to him that believeth” Hebrews 11:6 “Without faith, it is impossible to please him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Mark 11:23,24 “…that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24) “Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 25) “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 25) “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Notice that this scripture tells us some very specific rules for getting prayers answered, whether it be for healing or whatever you desire. First, note that it says ‘if you say unto this mountain’. In the chapter about the ‘power of the tongue’, remember how important your words were? You have to speak to whatever circumstances you want to change. Next, you must not doubt in your heart, but believe that God is going to do this for you. Verse 24 even goes further in saying; you can pray for what you desire! I have had more ‘religious’ people tell me that I could not pray for something. According to this scripture, if you desire something that is not against what is written in God’s word (or his will), then, if you have the faith, you can pray for it and receive it if you DOUBT NOT. Verse 25 adds a stipulation that you must be in the state of forgiveness and basically be right with God before you pray. Take care of any sin or unforgiveness before you pray what you are believing for. Also, God’s word tells us that ‘Faith worketh by love’. Are you asking for something that would be outside of God’s love? You cannot expect to receive anything from God selfishly. If we offend our brother in word or deed, we are not operating in God’s love. Deut. 28:1-14 is a promise of the blessings, which will come on Abraham and his seed. 1) “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2) “And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. 3) “Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4) “Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, and the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5) “Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6) “Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 10) “And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11) “And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12) “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven, to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13) “And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14) “And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. Deuteronomy 28:15-68 gives the reverse of this promise, which is a curse that will come on anyone who does not hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God. Sickness is a curse. Can anyone disagree with that? And yet a part of that curse is that a person’s diseases shall become wonderful to them! Have you ever met someone who could talk of nothing else but their infirmities? These people have let their diseases become wonderful in their minds. Also, there are many people with disabilities, which have a secure income from their diseases, and they do not want to be healed! If this sounds crazy, you are right, but they are under a curse. I have had many people not want me to pray for their healing because they would have to give up that SSI check. Galatians 3:29 says “And if ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Deuteronomy 28:15-68 tells us that all sickness and disease is under the curse of the law. But Galatians 3:13 says “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.” Galatians 3:26 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:11 “… the just shall live by faith.” Mark 16:17,18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; … they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” God’s word works every time for believers according to the power that worketh in them, through the Holy Spirit by faith! If it doesn’t work, we are in error somewhere, whether we are in doubt or unforgiveness, etc. Ask God for Wisdom. He will show you why, if you ask. Sometimes, we have to believe the scriptures no matter ‘what’ we see or what even doctors tell us to get healed. Sometimes we have to lay our life on the line; and prove God’s word in our flesh, even facing death. On July 2, 1999, I had an accident resulting in a large gash above my right ankle, and with a hairline fracture which was not detected at the time. (The accident happened as a result of a satanic attack against me while I was trying to pray for a dear soul who was deeply rooted in various bondages.) I immediately prayed the prayer of faith over my leg and tried to go on with a normal life. They told me at the hospital that I would have to be off my leg for two weeks. I had only started my new job a couple of months before this, so I couldn’t do what the doctor said. I went to work after being off for only one day. People kept telling me to take it easy and give the leg a chance to heal. But I already believed I was healed according to God’s word, no matter what I saw or felt. After two weeks, the doctor took out the 14 stitches and told me they were surprised at how fast I healed. But satan wasn’t through with me yet. The male nurse that took the stitches out put steri-stitches on the wound in the wrong direction and re-bandaged my leg. I was to leave this bandage on for at least a week. Every time I walked, the steri-stitches were tearing the wound back open – although I did not know it because I was not allowed to take off the bandage. I did experience pain in the area that I had not felt before, though. I had only been given 5 days of antibiotics at the beginning, by the hospital. I decided to go to my own doctor about the pain. I found out that normally, a wound like mine should have been treated with stronger antibiotics for at least a month. The doctor found the wound open (about three inches around) when he took off the bandage. It was infected badly, and when he x-rayed it, found that I had a hair-line fracture for which I had not been treated. Since the cut was to the bone, the doctor suspected that the bone also might be infected (Osteomylitis). That was what in his opinion was causing the pain. He gave me the strongest antibiotic he could give without hospitalizing me. I took the medication even though I still believed I was healed. After eight weekly visits, the wound appeared larger and more infected and I was referred to the Vanderbilt Wound Care Center in Nashville. They treated the wound surgically and removed all the gangrenous skin around the edges. Then they gave me an antibiotic that was used for bone marrow cancer patients to take for a month. It would make me very sick. I didn’t eat for a month. I had lost 50 pounds since August. It was now October. The wound did not respond any better to this treatment; and, the doctor discussed the possibility of removing my leg because of the bone-marrow infection. I told her that was not an option, as God had healed me. She told me that if I did not agree to amputation, I would die a horrible, long death. She took x-rays that Friday morning so that she could have one more look at the bone. She asked me to call her Monday morning to schedule surgery. She was optimistic that faced with death, I would come around and have the surgery. I was just as determined that God’s word was working in my leg and I believed God over what the doctor said. I decided to quit going to the doctor and believe God. I went home to my Mom’s home in Birmingham by bus that weekend. I wanted to see her one more time ... because if God did not come through, it would be my last time to see her. I returned just in time to go to work Monday morning. There were several calls on my answering machine from my doctor. I ignored them. I was not going to have surgery. I was healed! (even though, in this natural realm, my leg looked and felt worse) About noon, my doctor called me. I was surprised that she did not call me to fuss about my not showing up; but she said, ‘I guess your God came through. The x-rays we took Friday were negative. There is now no bone marrow infection on the x-rays, and no evidence even of the fracture on the previous x-rays.’ Praise the Lord! Because I was faithful to him, even to the death, he was faithful to me and healed me. I still have the scar on my ankle, which I had thought God would even restore that. But, now I am grateful for this scar that is a testimony of God’s grace and shows that he is faithful to those who are faithful to his word. Never give up! If you are not dead, there is time for God to move in your behalf. Satan will try to steal anything he can from you. I could have still been alive without such extreme faith; but, I would not have one of the two legs I now have. If it comes to believing God or a human being, I believe God! So that you will know that God wants you to live your life in health, here are his own words on the subject: III John, verses 2-4 “Beloved, I wish ABOVE ALL THINGS that thou mayest prosper AND BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walketh in the truth.” He wouldn’t have said so if He did not want you well. God can not lie. So, if you are sick, you are out of God’s will and there is health waiting for you if you will take heed to God’s word. CHAPTER NINE THE PROMISE OF PROSPERITY Proverbs 13:22 “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” Matthew 7:11 “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Luke 18:29 “Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the Kingdom of God’s sake, 31) “who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.” Colossians 1:12 “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light…” Galatians 3:29 “And if ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Matthew 6:20 “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; 21) “for where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.” Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” Mark 9:23 “Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” I Timothy 6:17 “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.” Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.” Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 12) “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.” At the Lakeshore Assembly of God Church in Homewood, Alabama, there was an assistant pastor and his young family living on church property. They gave me this lesson in faith for financial problems. One payday, they had a choice of whether to pay a delinquent car payment, or to pay their tithe. They chose to honor God and pay their tithe, believing God for their car, which they needed, having two jobs and babies to take care of. Several weeks went by and they were wondering if the car dealership would come and pick up their car (since they had not received any money with which to pay it). The wife called one day to end the suspense. The lady at the dealership informed her that their car payment had been paid. She checked with everyone they knew, but no one had even known that their car payment had been late. She called back and asked the woman at the dealership for more details about who had paid their payment, so she could thank them. The woman said she remembered him. ‘He was the nicest little old man, who said he just wanted to pay your bill. He was glowing and full of joy’. We believe an angel paid this debt because of the pastor’s faithfulness in paying his tithe and putting God first, even before their need. More Prosperity There are just way too many times to count where Jesus has come through in my finances. God has been faithful in every promise that I have spoken over my circumstances in faith. One such time occurred in 1985, while my abusive, non-Christian husband was dragging my children and myself with him through Florida. We were short on money and trying to find a place to stay. We had been on the road for days without leaving the car except at rest areas. My husband and I had been fighting about his life style and all of our nerves were on edge. On I-10, between Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida, we stopped at a rest area. It was pouring down rain. My husband, whom I was trying to believe into God’s kingdom, was depressed and talking about leaving us when we reached Jacksonville because he was tired of being troubled with his ‘ready made’ family’s needs. I was speaking faith to him that God would provide for us according to His Word. I prayed that God would do something to exercise my husband’s belief in God. He was adamant about leaving us. He was tired of my endless testimony of what God would do. As yet, he had not seen any miracles, which he could not explain away. I left the car to go to the restroom, devastated. I could not quit crying. Why wouldn’t my husband just believe? Why were my children and I having to live like this? As I was leaving the restroom, there was a nice older lady standing there with an umbrella. She saw that I had been crying, and asked me what was wrong. This kindly grandmother type was all I needed to break down and start crying all over again. I told her everything right there in the rain. She was a Christian and began praying for my family. She told me, when we got into Jacksonville, to go to the first Motel we saw and that they would provide for us. The lady was wearing a uniform like the rest area attendants. I asked her if she worked there. She said that she ‘was working now’. Such a peace came over me and my faith was renewed. She handed me $10 for gas. I thanked the dear lady and went back to the car. I told my husband what she told me. He only scoffed at it. But, I was determined to do what she told me, as I discerned that her advise was of the Lord. About 2 miles inside of West Jacksonville, I saw a Motel sign. I told my husband to pull in. He did, but only to prove to me that God didn’t care about us. ‘You wait and see’, I told him. ‘We will stay here tonight and you will have a job and a place for us to stay tomorrow’. He laughed at my faith. I silently prayed as I got out of the car, for Jesus to help me so that my husband would believe. Because of my words, God needed to get busy so that I wouldn’t appear to be a fool. I went into the Motel Office and told them our situation; and, asked if we could stay there in exchange for doing some work. I did not want charity. They said they did not need help, and my heart dropped in despair. As I turned to leave, the desk clerk called out to me. ‘I have a room you may stay in for the night’. Praise God! I went back out to the car victorious with the room key in my hand. All of us were jubilant over the prospect of a hot bath and a bed to sleep in. When we entered the room, I noticed the Gideon Bible on the nightstand was open. It was open to Psalm 18. As my husband and children bathed and ate sandwiches, I read the Psalm. It told of how angry God was when His people were attacked by the enemy; and went on to describe what God would do to rescue us. Even though I had a comfortable bed that night, I stayed awake thanking God and praising Him for what He would do on our behalf tomorrow. The next morning, my husband found an ad in the newspaper for a maintenance man at a mobile home park. He decided to go check on the job. The man at the place offered my husband the job and to let us stay in one of his mobile homes until we got paid. Praise Jesus! What a wonderful God we serve. He took us off the road and supplied ALL of our need over night, according to His promise and what the ‘lady’ had spoken. Years later, while travelling back to Jacksonville, I decided to stop at that same rest area to see if the “little old lady’ still worked there – to pay her back and tell her what God had done in response to her prayers. There was a man working there that day. I told him what happened and that I would like to be able to thank his fellow employee and pay her back. His face looked confused when he told me that he was the only employee at that rest area and had been there for fourteen years. He knew of no lady working there or at any of the other rest areas during that whole time. I, since, have figured out that this ‘lady’ had to have been an angel, who was ‘working for God’ that day. God will keep His promise if we can believe! CHAPTER TEN THE PROMISE OF STRENGTH Are You A Threat To Satan? I have heard some minister’s say about people who are always besieged by troubles; that if they were living right, they would not have so many problems. Isaiah 53:3 “… he is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…” How many times have you looked at a bum on the street and thought bad of him? Or, the alcoholics and drug addicts? Or, the prostitutes? Or, those living on disability? Or, on welfare? Or, those who were not blessed in the looks department (I am one of those)? Did you think God turned his back on them because of something bad they had done? Isaiah 53:2 “For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath NO form of comeliness, and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” Jesus was not desirable to look at. In fact, the Jews (God’s own chosen people who knew what to look for by the scriptures) murdered Jesus, an innocent man, because he spoke the truth (according to the scriptures), he performed miracles (that up to that time, men never saw done before and the religious leaders were jealous) and he was not the image that they preconceived the Messiah to be (he did not portray himself as a rich king in glory). Satan deceived them by Jesus’ looks. If satan went around attacking his own followers with calamities, his kingdom would fall. Matthew 12:25-28 “Every Kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26)“And if satan cast out satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his Kingdom stand? 26) “And if I (Jesus) by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 27) “But, if I cast out devils by the spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God is come unto you.” Satan attacks those who will pose the biggest threat to his Kingdom. Satan attacks good people. In the eighties, I was a member of a “faith teaching” church, whose teachings contributed greatly to my own walk with the Lord. During that time, I was raising two children alone on a very small salary. God was training me in deliverance and how faith works; so I had not yet concentrated on the prosperity scriptures. Satan was attacking me from every direction, especially my body and my finances. It was miraculous at times how God provided for us. We were delivered, by God, from EVERY attack of satan. One week, I had been off from work for a week because I had a heart attack and satan was putting symptoms of mitrol valve prolapse (a faulty mitrol valve) on me. We were living back then from paycheck to paycheck and sometimes food was scarce and I was always ‘borrowing from Peter to pay Paul’ so to speak. Loosing a week’s pay really put the spiritual and physical pressure onto me. I got on my knees and prayed ‘the prayer of faith’ about what we would eat and our needs, and my health. I was learning to trust my God and his Word. A thought came to me to go to my pastor with the problem. The next day, I called and made an appointment with him. I had gone to this church for a couple of years and had paid my tithe to this ministry every week. It wasn’t a large amount of money to the church; but to me it was a lot. That day, all I had in the house to feed the children, was a bag of self-rising cornmeal and some oil and some grape jelly. I fixed some ‘corn pong’ (flattened cornbread patties fried in oil) and we topped them with jelly. The kids were hungry and it tasted great. We thanked God for our meal, knowing God had provided. My children and I kept the appointment at church. I told the pastor my problem and he told us to wait outside in the sanctuary while he prayed about our request for food. In a short while, the pastor’s secretary came out to us. This is what she told us: “the pastor prayed about your problem and he said God did not tell him to help you at this time. You must be doing something wrong to be in such a situation (they knew that I was a smoker) and if I would clean up my life, God would bless us.” Mind you, my eleven-year old son and five-year old daughter were with me. I have to admit I did not react with a “Christian” attitude to their answer! So I am not pointing my finger about being wrong. All of us fall short of God’s grace at one point or other. That is how we learn. I immediately told the secretary to have pastor read Matthew 5:42 “Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.” I was angry that this pastor whom I trusted to teach me the ‘love of god’, had forgotten charity and could send my children away hungry. (He forgot that he also turned Jesus away that day.) As we walked out of the church, I told my children not to worry (my little girl had asked me what we were going to do?). “God will provide for us, if he has to come himself. He will take care of us.” Even while angry, God’s words were directing my path, and causing me to speak faith in this situation. So I just kept quoting God’s words to myself and my children. God would provide. As we turned the corner to our apartment, I saw a huge box sitting on our porch. In it were more groceries than I had seen in months. There was meat, milk, bread, candy for the kids, veggies, flour, sugar, tea, eggs, orange juice, etc. It was like Christmas in our house that night. We may have been poor and I may have had a bad habit of smoking, but God saw fit to bless us anyway despite the bondage I was in. I still don’t know by whom God delivered those groceries; but we were blessed even though we didn’t look like we were perfect, like the world wanted us to appear. (They that are whole have no need for a physician) Jesus didn’t come for those with no needs. He came for a ‘sick’ people – to make them whole and to free them from bondage. John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” I have since, through the scriptures, found a truth which may seem strange to a carnal man; but God said it. I only am the ‘messenger’. So don’t blame me! If a Christian ever gets to the point where they are ‘comfortable’ and are not under attack by the adversary, then these Christians have quit being a threat to satan. If satan is not attacking in some way, he has you where he wants you and he isn’t worried about what you are doing for God. Don’t misunderstand me! Christians will always (according to their faith) have victory – even though they are under spiritual attack. Consider the following scriptures and understand what I am saying to you: John 15:2 “…Every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth fruit.” 15:4 “Abide in me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches…” John 15:18 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19) “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore, the world hateth you. 20) “Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21) “But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.” Matthew 7:3 “Judge not that ye be not judged.” So, the person you send out of your way today, may be a prophet of God tomorrow, or a pastor, or a healer, or ‘your deliverer’. They are under attack of satan. Jesus said ‘if ye give unto even one of these little ones a drink only when he is thirsty, ye have given to me.” And, “if ye receive unto yourself a prophet, ye shall receive a prophet’s reward.” And, “for you know not if you are entertaining an angel unaware.” Now I am not saying that all ‘unsuccessful people’ are of God, or indeed will be; and many that were called will not make it into the Kingdom of God. I am just saying we are not to judge people because we all fall short of the grace of God. Let these words of the faith encourage those who are heavily burdened and seeking the Lord; and, for those who have grown ‘comfortable’, please seek the Lord for “if ye seek, ye shall find and if ye knock, the door shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:10) Strive to be someone ‘satan’ will be afraid of. Use the power God gave you by promise, through faith. Make a difference in your life and other’s. As for myself, I am not concerned about what people think about me, or if I am dressed like a king (even though the Word says I am a child of the King). As long as I am doing what God’s words tell me to do, I will count it all joy, because someday I want Jesus to tell me to my face “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” What will he say to you? I have never in my entire 21 year walk with the Lord, known an act of ‘love’ to fail. Love is a seed you plant in a soul. Water it with God’s word and kindness and soon you will see faith sprout up in that soul and it will yield fruit (love) in return. (If you plant corn, you yield corn, etc.) My greatest desire in this life is for people to see Jesus in my eyes and through what I say and do. Then they won’t care what I look like or what I wear; and as Paul, the apostle said, “you didn’t hate me for my infirmity”. I Peter 3:4 “But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” I am hoping that my faith has caused satan very much trouble and I intend to continue being a threat to him in Jesus’ name. CHAPTER ELEVEN THE PROMISE OF POSSIBILITIES “All Things Are Possible For Him That Believeth” In 1983, I was living in Homewood, Alabama. I had been a Christian for four years and still had the ‘baby faith’ of a comparatively new Christian. I was acquainted with a dear lady in her mid-sixties and her common-law husband of 29 years. I will call her ‘gramma’ for this writing. This lady was my friend and my babysitter; and, she had 10 grown children of her own. She nor her family had ever really committed their lives to the Lord. I had been witnessing to her of how Christ can change lives and miraculously heal the body, as she had known me since before my conversion to Christianity. Her husband, jokingly, would tease me about how I said ‘Praise the Lord’ all of the time. I didn’t realize, though, to what degree they were watching the change in me. I was praying for them, of course. One day, I was told ‘Gramma’ had been taken to the hospital during the previous night. Her children and husband asked me to pray for her, as they were told she would not make it. I loved this woman and I know that she was not yet right with the Lord, so my faith jumped right in on her behalf and off to the hospital I went. I had been studying the ‘faith walk’ under Brother Kenneth Copeland for about a year and I knew it was possible, with faith, and from my own personal healings, for ‘gramma’ to be healed. I took a tape recorder with me, and some of Brother Copeland’s ‘healing tapes’, and of course my bible. The doctor and some of Gramma’s family met me when I arrived, with bad news. She was in a coma. Her lungs, kidneys and liver had quit working. There was fluid around her heart and lungs and she was drowning in her own fluids. She was hooked up to a lung machine and her heart was being electronically stimulated to keep it beating. The family was gathering to decide when to let her go and take her off life support. I begged them to let me pray for her and to give her a little more time. They agreed. It was around 2:00 pm when I anointed Gramma’s body with oil and prayed the prayer of faith, while laying my very inexperienced hands on her in the blind faith of a child. She did not seem to respond to my prayers immediately, and satan played mind games with me … telling me I was just an inexperienced Christian who had no real power and that before my little faith could do anything, they would turn off the machines and satan would have my friend. Being stubborn had never been to my benefit before, and I had stayed in trouble a lot because of the stubborn streak I inherited. But, under this pressure, I got ready for a spiritual battle. I didn’t like satan telling me anything, especially this. I made up my mind. Gramma would not die and she would not go to Hell. Back then I didn’t know that much about how things worked in the spiritual realm; but, I did know to ask in the name of Jesus and to bind up satan and quote God’s word over the dear lady, who was my friend. I didn’t care what I saw in the natural realm. I wouldn’t let satan win the battle. I hooked up the tape recorder and played scriptures to Gramma, as in earlier medical training, I remembered that a person in a coma could probably hear what was happening around them. I got into arguments with her family because they were speaking death and non-faith words over her where she could hear it. I knew this lady needed God’s living word in her spirit to bring her life. Eventually, her children and her doctor, Dr. Reuben, asked me to leave the room because I was building ‘false hope’ in her children; and they were getting upset by it. It was about 8:00 pm. Her family had decided to cut the machines off around midnight. I held a vigil in the intensive care waiting room on my knees before God. Being an inexperienced Christian, I was exhausted by the sheer physical willpower I was using in my battle against the spirit of death. I didn’t know then, all I was required to do was pray, believe, and praise God in faith that my request was granted. I was fighting a demon in my own mind (doubt and unbelief) and it was speaking unbelief to my young spirit. It told me I would be mocked and ashamed when she died because I had told everyone God would raise this woman up. The spirit boasted that she only had hours to live and then I would look stupid. I fought back with every fiber of my being – believing and quoting God’s words on the subject to this devil that mocked my faith. Then, at 10:30 pm, Gramma’s children told me that she was practically dead as an EEG was almost flat lining. At 12:00 am, they would turn the machines off and pronounce her legally dead. I cried and begged her family and doctors to give her more time, as I knew Jesus was working on her. I swore to them that she was not dead, nor dying. They gave me a look like your would look at someone who is desperate, with no hope. They told me to go home. There was nothing I could do now, they told me. As I left the hospital, I had a verbal battle with satan and told him he could NOT HAVE Gramma! He told me in my mind every little mistake or sin I had been guilty of and chastised me that I had no power and God didn’t have time for someone like me. That devil was laughing at me!!! As long as I breathe, I made up my mind that would never happen again. I remembered a scripture in Ephesians about putting on the full armor of God. (Eph. 6:10-18) I knew I had already done all that I knew to do and that NOW it was God who was on the spot. I was just doing what His Word told me to do. Verse 13 says “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”. So, I told the spirit of death to leave Gramma one more time and spoke life towards her in Jesus’ name. It was 12:05 am. I remembered it was not my battle, but God’s and I reminded the devil about that and he left me alone. I started singing songs of victory to the Lord. I never slept so well in my whole life as I did that night. I woke up to someone knocking loudly on my door at 8:00 am. It was Ed, gramma’s husband. He was glowing. I found out that the family had turned the machines off at exactly midnight. Her heartbeat slowly started to fade away. Everyone left her room, except her husband. All he could hear was the Kenneth Copeland tape preaching in the background. No one remembered who had kept it going. Then Gramma opened her eyes and told Ed, “we need to be baptized”. When he left to come tell me, she was sitting up in bed eating breakfast … this woman who hours before was given up for dead. As Ed and Gramma realized what God had done, both of them gave their lives to Jesus. Their doctor even admitted it was a miracle. Ed had come to my house for two reasons; 1) to ask me to witness their baptism that morning at the hospital; and 2) to be a witness at their Christian marriage that evening! This was the first real documentable miracle I had witnessed. Gramma and Ed have gone to be with Jesus at this writing and I know because of the ‘faith of a child’ one day we will be joyously reunited in heaven. The bible says: “If ye have the faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” And, it will grow into the biggest miracle; and this was the case, in fact. I just did what I knew to do. God did the rest. God will meet your faith where you are. All it takes is the trust of a child in God’s word. More Possibilities Right after the ‘grocery miracle’, I had to deal with my health situation. I was believing God that I was healed. I had been treated for a severe mitrol valve problem in my heart and was on Digoxin, Potassium, and a diuretic. The medications were beginning to cause problems, as my body was trying to respond to my faith and to the medications at the same time. I had been warned, by my cardiologist, not to change my medication amounts without his approval, as those drugs could cause life threatening problems if you came off of them all at once. At this stage in my walk with the Lord, I did not know how to explain to any doctor why I wanted off of the meds for fear of his thinking I was crazy. The medicines were still adjusting my heart rate – but since at times my faith was making my heart rate become normal, the meds would ‘cause’ a problem instead of fixing it. (When I was in to God’s word and my faith was working as I was confessing ‘the Word’ over my body, my heart became normal. When I got upset and forgot to speak God’s word over my body, the old symptoms would come back.) I had to make up my mind one way or the other because going back and forth (trying to do both) was worse for me than having no faith at all. “You cannot serve God and mammon.” So I decided to trust God to regulate my body by faith. I stopped all medications. For a few weeks, satan tried to keep me upset and to steal my time in God’s word. The symptoms would come back on me with a vengeance if I neglected God’s medicine (Prov. 4:22). I would almost loose consciousness and actually feel my heart slow down and almost stop. It was a very scary time for me. Satan would speak to my mind and tell me that I would die and leave my children alone. I would quote God’s word over myself and then I would feel better. A couple of times, I did black out. Then, one day while I was alone, satan told me ‘This is it. You are dead!’ My heart started slowing down and I slowly felt myself about to loose consciousness. I prayed over my body and commanded it to respond to God’s word. The devil told me ‘your heart will completely stop now and you will die’. With all the courage and anger I could muster, I told satan ‘even if my heart never beats another beat, I won’t die. I will live for Jesus’ glory and accomplish what God wanted me to do! In the name of Jesus, take your lying hands off of me!’ My heart got slower. I couldn’t feel it beating any longer. It was like I could not breathe or detect any heartbeat, which had been absolutely pounding in my chest seconds before. An eternal minute passed by. It seemed like forever. Satan said, ‘You’re dead. Fall down!’ I said ‘By Jesus’ stripes, I am healed’. I started laughing at satan. I didn’t feel like laughing. I felt like I was dying. But, it was the Holy Ghost in me that was laughing. I laughed and laughed until I had the hiccups. Satan asked me ‘What are you laughing at?’ I said, ‘I’m laughing at you liar!’ I started praising Jesus that my body was healed. Soon, I realized my heart felt normal again. All the symptoms of Mitrol Valve Prolaps left me from that hour. Praise God, whose word is truth for those who will believe! If you don’t believe, don’t worry about those who do, because you will never be troubled with healing or miracles. Only those who believe will receive! I have learned that faith is not something you pull out of your hat in times of trouble. Faith is a way of life. If I ever stopped using my faith in God’s word, my body would die. This is why many, who were in Christ, are asleep. They could not believe God’s whole word. So many times, satan has tried to kill me, but he is no match for Jesus! The spirit of God living in me is now my life. My body has become what God’s word said, by faith. (Isaiah 55:11) CHAPTER TWELVE THE PROMISE OF MIRACULOUS HELP Luke 17:12-19 “And as He entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them, He said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, “were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.” And He said unto him, “Arise, go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Typically, the lepers in this gospel were like many believers today. They worshiped Jesus from far off – crying out for help – but never considering themselves worthy of coming too close to the Master. But, in this case, they were either desperate enough or had heard enough of the Word from Jesus to be in that state you have to be in to receive from God … that being with supernatural hope, “hoping against hope” for a miracle. They were expecting to hear from God … enough so that they cried out in a LOUD voice so that Jesus heard them. (It was against the law in those days for lepers to approach men). Jesus immediately told them to go to the priests, because in those days lepers, by law were not allowed to be within so many yards of those that are clean. To be released from this law, they had to be declared “clean” by the priests. Now, this act of obedience to what Jesus told them to do was an act of faith; because they did not see the healing at this point, but were willing to do what Jesus said. They were going to the priests, and they were expecting a miracle. Today, there are what I call ‘leper spirits’ which keep people at their distance from Jesus in the wrong belief that they are “unclean” or “unworthy” of coming to the Lord and asking anything of Him. They don’t believe God cares enough about them to heal them or deliver them from their infirmities. But, Jesus knew we were short of being worthy. That is why Jesus came. He became a covering for us and paid the price for our sin, in our place, so we could take on His worthiness by faith. Now, we can ask the Lord for our needs up front and personal. Now, we can come to Him in His grace. Jesus said come to me ALL OF YOU who are burdened and heavy laiden and let me give you rest! Why do some who come to Jesus receive healing and others walk away as they were? Some never receive anything from God because of their unbelief, and some go away alive, but with scars or deformities. Some are made whole. Why? Read the last few verses of the story about the lepers! Starting in verse 15, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with LOUD voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks…” Then what happened? Jesus said in verse 19,"rise, go thy way; thy FAITH hath made thee whole”. Now, did Jesus change his mind and take away healing from the other nine lepers? (it said they were all healed) No, I don’t see that. Jesus isn’t in the taking away business … but giving. Love never takes away! Those ‘nine’ were cleansed and no longer had leprosy. But leprosy is a disease which disfigures and lepers loose parts of their bodies. Their noses and ears and fingers and toes and limbs eventually fall off. Jesus told the only one who went back to worship God and give Him the glory, “thy FAITH hath made thee whole!” I see this one leper received “WHOLENESS” which went beyond healing. His limbs and disfigurements and mental anguish were restored without “evidence” that leprosy had ever had a hold on him. Glory to God! The Word of God says: “without faith, it is impossible to please God” Heb. 11:6. You have to have a “Good connection” to place a call to heaven and get wholeness, and FAITH is the communications system that works to reach heaven for an answer which will remove all evidence of your infirmity! “Faith is the SUBSTANCE of THINGS HOPED FOR and the EVIDENCE of things UNSEEN” Heb. 11:1 God’s word says faith is a substance. The SUBSTANCE is the ‘Word in You’ giving you a promise and YOUR HOPE against what the world says, that God is more than able and willing to perform it in you. The EVIDENCE is your testimony and actions giving glory to God BEFORE you see the answer with your natural eyes! “Faith comes by hearing the Word of God”! Romans 10:17 Put God’s word before you constantly and see what love can and will do for you! “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:16 Eph. 6:12-13 says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” How do you stand against this evil which has a hold on you? Eph. 6:14-16 says “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth (the Word) and having the breastplate of righteousness: and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: Above all, taking the shield of faith, whereby ye shall be able to quench ALL the fiery darts of the wicked.” But to keep your healing and deliverance, the Word goes on to say in Eph. 6:17, “And take the helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”. (God’s Word is your weapon in the spiritual realm. See Proverbs 4:20-22) More Miracles In 1984, I had just gotten off from work and picked up my five year-old daughter from the babysitters house. It was pouring down rain. Visibility was almost zero. As had become my practice, when I got behind the wheel, I prayed for safety and claimed Psalm 91 protection over my car, my daughter and myself. My daughter, Shelly, was buckled in the front passenger seat. After my short prayer, we started down the road to pick up my son, Buddy. After going about a block, the spirit of God put a joy into my heart and I started praying and singing in other tongues. I sensed a tremendous feeling of security and love come over me. This was good because I hated to drive in the rain and especially at night because the oncoming lights hurt my vision. Usually driving under these circumstances put a lot of tension on me and by the time I would get home, I would have developed a tension headache. Tonight was different. I felt God’s angels were with me. Two blocks further down the road, I was moving slowly through an intersection under a green light. Suddenly, I saw lights shining into the passenger side of the car. I realized that a car had run the red light and in a second would plow directly into my daughter’s side of the car. If I had not been praising God, and if I had not spent quite a bit of time in God’s word, things probably would not have happened this way. Here is what took place in the next few seconds: After seeing the lights, all I had time to say was ‘Jesus help us’! I grabbed Shelly with my right arm and slammed on the brakes, which locked up, but still stopped us within inches. I had closed my eyes and braced for impact. There was none! When I opened my eyes, I looked in the direction the car was coming from, thinking it too had been able to stop in time. The car wasn’t there. I was about to comment on wondering where the car went, when Shelly pointed in amazement out my drivers side window. The car was on the other side, and the tail end was so close to my door, that I couldn’t open it. There was a woman inside, obviously very excited. We climbed out the passenger side door, not a little confused. It turned out that the woman driving the other car was also a Christian. She hadn’t been able to stop her car at the light after she had run through standing water in the road. This dear lady had also been praying at the time, and like myself, had asked for Jesus’ help before impact! There was no other explanation when we examined the position and skid marks of both cars. Her car had gone completely through my car. Her skid marks began 5 yards away from my car at the passenger side door, stopped right before going under my car, and picked up again less than a foot past my drivers’ side door. This was the Glory of the Lord that had saved all three of us and our vehicles. I still give Praise to God for sparing all of us that night. Even More Miracles On several occasions, I have used Jesus’ example and commanded storms to dissipate or go around us. Here is the more dramatic of examples: One time, on Palm Sunday (1994, I believe), the same day when the Goshen Baptist Church was wiped out by a tornado, killing 20 people; my daughter and I were at my mother’s mobile home in Pelham, Alabama. All day, we had tornado watches and warnings in our area. The day was dismal, humid and there was a feeling in the air that something was about to erupt. About 5:30 PM, my mother was outside talking to neighbors and Shelly and I were outside about to get in the car to go to church. Shelly got into the front seat and waited while I paid my respects to our friends and said good-bye to my mom. I was really early for church and in no big hurry. The weather was the same as it had been all day. Suddenly, in the middle of my sentence, I had a very strong urge to go on to the church … so much so that I couldn’t remember the rest of what I had been saying. I yielded to this unction because I was used to the angels of the Lord directing our paths in this manner. I said my Good-byes quickly and got into my car. I told Shelly to buckle her seat belt and that something was wrong. I didn’t know whether it was something here or at the church that needed my attention. Everything looked the same around us. My Mom was going inside her neighbors house as we left. I backed the car out of the driveway and drove to the first corner. (Mother lived on a cul de sac in the back side of the mobile home park, which was named Greenpark South. The layout of the park was large enough to accommodate 200 mobile homes, a swimming pool area, a club house, a day care and tennis courts. I would have to go six long blocks to get outside the park and then down a mile long two lane road through a wooded area to get to Hwy 31 South, the closest main road to her house. At the entrance to Greenpark on Hwy 31, there was a fire station and a Hardee’s Restaurant. All inside where the mobile homes were, there were pine trees everywhere.) At the first corner from the house, I heard people start screaming and the atmosphere suddenly got volatile. There was no rain – just noise, wind and that thickened air, which made it hard to breathe. Our ears started popping. We saw people running to their houses. I was about to turn around and go back home to see shat was wrong when I saw it in my rear mirror. I was looking at a black rotating cloud big enough to enclose the whole mobile home park. I immediately asked Jesus for help, started praying in my prayer language and turned our fate over to the angels who had prompted us to leave home when we did. The tornado was already almost on Mom’s house. There was nothing I could do for my Mom and her neighbors. I would try to beat the thing. At speeds of over 80 mph in my little Honda Civic, we tried to outrun the storm. All we could hear was the cracking of trees behind us. My daughter and I were frightened, but I knew God’s angels had already been working on our behalf that day. I decided to follow my instincts. We got to the one mile strip of wooded area and I could see about a 3 inch round tree blocking the road. This was the only way out. The tornado was coming up fast behind us. We could hear each tree breaking off and crashing. I decided to jump over the tree with the car. Instead of applying my brakes as I approached the tree, I speeded up even faster, and told my daughter to brace herself. We made it over the tree as I silently thanked God and I speeded up even more when we cleared the debris. I decided to try and make it all the way up to the fire station; and then we would seek refuge inside. In case you are wondering, we didn’t hear a freight train like people say in a tornado, we heard the cracking of trees so loud that we couldn’t hear anything else, but the wind whipping around our little car. Tree pieces were dancing in the air like they were weightless around us. The fire station came into view and I turned into the parking lot. They were closing their fire truck entrance doors and motioned for us to go to the front door. The firemen had moved their trucks outside of the building (I found out later so that if the building collapsed, the trucks would be free). Many other people had sought refuge off the highway there as was determined by how many cars were present. As Shelly and I got out of the car, a pillar support beam from the front of the station flew past us. We had a very hard time making it to the door. A fireman grabbed my daughter’s hand and pulled her in and then myself in the same manner. Normally, in front of people who are not believers, I don’t use my prayer language, but God gave me a boldness at the sight of about 20 men, women and children huddled in the lobby crying, screaming and frightened. They were yelling that they were going to die, and holding each other tight down on the floor. I took authority over the storm and the situation in Jesus’ name; commanded the tornado to go back up in the clouds and then spoke loudly that satan had to take his hands off this storm. We were not going to die and neither was anyone else because of this storm. I started praising God loudly in a mixture of English and my prayer language. The devil told me that I was going to feel stupid later because I was embarrassing my daughter and those around me also. But, I didn’t care. I knew the source of our help in this disaster was the Lord. I began to notice other people joining in the prayers. I felt the hands of another spirit-filled Christian on my shoulder in the prayer of agreement. I started praising God that noone would die in this storm and that the tornado would leave and not harm any more people or property. In a minute, it became quiet. We all drifted outside where it was now raining, but freezing cold. I checked our car. There was no damage to it except a pinhole in the tail light. None of the other vehicles on the fire station property had major damage either. The fire station had roof damage and the entire porch area was gone at the door we had entered by. We looked back into the mobile home park in horror. Power lines were everywhere and it was flat instead of the usual tree-lined horizon. The roadway was impenetrable. I prayed for my mother and all those trapped inside Greenpark. It did not look like anything could have lived through the carnage we saw. People and emergency crews pulled together to get word back of those families inside the park. The landlines were down and cell phones were the only way of contacting the people inside. And, whoever they called had to have their own cell phone. The police and firemen had to go into the devastation on foot. I sent messages with some of them to check on my mother. There were gas lines broken and confusion as to how to get everyone out safely before a downed power line or flame caused an even worse disaster. The rescue workers were going door to door and carrying out those who could not make the 2 mile trip across downed trees and power lines by themselves. At midnight, one of my brothers from Calera got there with his cell phone. We knew that at Mother’s house, she had a cell phone; but she had been at the neighbor’s house when the tornado hit. We couldn’t get through. At 12:15 AM, my brother’s cell phone rang with good news. It was Mother. She was fine and the rescue people were bringing her out. The bible says that the Lord will rain on the just and the unjust the same. I believe that the non-believers that night were protected because they were in the middle of about 50 families of Christians in that park. I also believe that God’s angels perform the spoken word of God and create miracles that overflow on to those around them. In our case, this was certainly true. Out of 200 mobile homes, only 80 were spared. My Mom’s and those around it were left whole with only slight damage, as were others in small clusters almost untouched. In Psalm 91, it says in verse 10, ‘there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” In the Mobile Home Park, trees covered all of the ground haphazardly. It would take 8 weeks for all of the debris to be removed. The power would be out for 10 days. Some mobile homes had nothing left but the axles. Trees were put through them in impossible manners. All in all, there were no deaths because of the storm. There were a few broken bones and cuts, but no one was hospitalized. The tornado swept a path 2 ½ miles long and 1 mile wide, from the back side of the park to the entrance out at Hwy 31 South. There were no trees left standing whole or without damage in the whole area. We found out later on the news, that there were two tornadoes, one behind the other, both rated F2. In the driveway, where my daughter had been sitting in the car waiting for me, there were three huge pine trees where the car had been. If I had not paid attention to the prompting of the angels who warned me, my daughter would have been dead, and who knows what else would have happened? I believe the prayers of all of us in the fire station were the catalysts, which saved many lives that night. Instead of speaking death and destruction, we were going to the source of our help, Jesus, and speaking faith over not only ourselves, but all those who were near our dwellings. CHAPTER THIRTEEN THE PROMISE OF WISDOM James 1:5-9 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him. 7) “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 8) “For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 9) “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” If any of you are familiar with the story of Solomon, King David’s son, you will appreciate how important wisdom and understanding is to God. The story from II Chronicles 1:7-12 goes like this: David was getting old and God had let him know that it was time for one of his sons to take over being King. Even though Solomon was very young and inexperienced, God picked Solomon to take David’s place to rule Israel. God was proud of Solomon and told him that he could have any thing he desired of him. Solomon chose wisdom of the things of God for his gift. This pleased God so much, that God told him since he chose wisdom, God would bless all he set his hand to and give him the riches of the world through that wisdom. Proverbs 3:13 “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom and the man that getteth understanding.” Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:23 “… I will make known my words unto you.” Proverbs 1:32 “… the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” 32) “but whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” Proverbs 4:5-7 “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6) “Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7) “Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” If you ignore the promise of Godly wisdom, you cannot speak wisely. The tongue is full of wicked worldly knowledge, that will harm you. You need God’s wisdom and from it, the control of your tongue, in order to prosper and reap the benefits of salvation … what you speak over yourself and your circumstances today, will be what you reap tomorrow. Proverbs 6:2 “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” Remember Matthew 12:36 “But I say unto you, that every idle (unwise) word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” Using God’s Wisdom In late 1998, before I moved with my daughter’s family to Tennessee, I had another opportunity for God to show His power mightily in my life. I was traveling and doing God’s work in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, when satan attacked me with no warning. I had been walking on the beach, and I had a stroke. All the I.D. I had on me at the time, (I was on the beach) was my Alabama drivers license. Because I had no local I.D. on me, the paramedics assumed I was a transient. I was actually staying with friends. I believe this lack of I.D. affected my treatment and was part of satan’s attack on me. As the paramedics were loading my gurney into the ambulance, they dropped the ‘head’ end to the ground, causing me to slide my head at an odd angle against the railing. I felt a sharp pain and passed out. I woke up in the hospital in a room that resembled a storeroom rather than an exam room. For two hours, no one came into my room. I knew unless I was treated or I put my faith to work, I would die. My right side hurt with great throbbing pain from my neck down. My left side was numb and shaking. My vision was crazy and when I tried to call for a nurse whom I saw passing by, I could not form the words correctly in my mouth. My tongue was thick and I couldn’t seem to control my lips. I started praying in my mind and trying to speak life into my half-paralyzed body. Finally, I heard a doctor speaking to someone about me out in the hallway. A female voice replied, ‘but her neck appears to be broken’. The ‘doctor’ said, ‘as far as we know, she doesn’t have any insurance, so send her back out on the street’. Then the ‘doctor’ came into my room. He said the x-rays showed nothing in my ‘lungs’ and he was releasing me. I asked him about the pain and numbness. He said to take some Tylenol when I got home. I questioned him about the fall I had getting into the ambulance. He ignored my question and left the room. A nurse brought a release form in for me to sign. I refused to sign it. I told her I needed a ride home or to another hospital and asked if they could help, as my friends were still at work and I didn’t have their numbers. She said they did not do that, especially if I would not sign the release paper. Thinking that I would get help getting home if I signed, I signed it. Everyone left the room, with all my questions still unanswered. After a moment, I struggled to get dressed and decided to find the doctor and at the least, ask him for some Tylenol. It was 98 degrees outside and the hospital was ten blocks from the bus line. I did not have enough money on me to get a taxi. I went very unsteadily outside my room to the nurse’s station. I asked her for the medication. Then I asked if they were talking about ‘me’ having a broken neck? She threatened to call security if I didn’t leave immediately. I left. I must have been a sight on that eternal walk to the bus stop. I had to inch sideways with my right leg, which hurt when I moved it; and then, I would drag and slide my left leg along, which I couldn’t feel. I could not think about it, or I would break down, so I started singing songs to the Lord to boost my faith and give me strength. (The joy of the Lord is our strength) It took two hours to get to the bench where I waited on the bus. I decided I would have my friends take me to the hospital in Jacksonville when they got home. Until then, I prayed and spoke healing scriptures over my body as well as I could. Soon, I was in route to a ‘real’ hospital with I.D. where I could get some help (this was some eight hours after having the initial stroke). I was told that I had a condition called Osteo sclerosis already before this, in which my neck and back bone had become brittle and the x-rays even showed tiny air holes through the bone. My fall had shattered at least one of the vertebrae in my neck. They said only surgery could fix this and since they were not sure if the paralysis and pain came from the broken neck or from the nerve damage the stroke caused. My prognosis was not good. This hospital was very good to me, although my insurance from Alabama still would not cover some of the treatment I needed down there in Florida. In the meantime, I had called my family and they were in route to bring me back to Alabama. I was strongly in prayer and was fasting for my healing. In this condition, I could not work, and I had to work. I recovered enough within two days to be able to speak (although not completely) and my vision returned to almost normal. When I got stressed, I still had some trouble with my sight. The pain on my right side from my neck to my hip was relentless. I got partial feeling back in my left side, but not much control over movement. I was wearing a neck brace, which contributed to my discomfort. It was hard to have faith at times because the whole situation seemed hopeless and I was attacked by depression. I ended up going to Gadsden, Alabama with my daughter and her husband. I felt like a burden and I know I was a hardship to them, as they were new parents and young. (They were wonderful to me nonetheless.) I tried to go to a doctor in Alabama, but my insurance ran out before I could get an appointment with a specialist. I went to the emergency room and they verified what the last hospital told me in Florida, but said I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon and a neurologist. Without insurance or a lot of cash, I couldn’t do either. I applied for Medicaid but did not fall into the correct category or age group to receive help. I would have to have a doctor refer me for Medicaid and no one would see me without insurance. They couldn’t use the ER records they said. I did not want to be a burden to my kids, so I applied for Public Housing and applied for SSI. Social Security told me I also had to have a regular doctor’s diagnosis plus the ER records to be approved. They said it would take about 6 months after my doctors reported to them, before I received a check, if approved. I did get Public Housing, though, almost right away. The only problem was that Alabama Public Housing requires rent and a deposit (even though it was a small amount), whether I had an income or not. I had enough money to pay for the first month (God had provided) and after that??? I was in a vicious circle. I couldn’t work. I couldn’t go to a doctor for medical care. I couldn’t get SSI without a doctor and I couldn’t get a doctor without money. (And SSI wanted only a specialist doctor’s report.) The only thing I did get was emergency food stamps for one and a half months, which was a one time thing. I can tell you, things were truly looking impossible for me. But, I remembered my pastor saying ‘instead of getting upset at setbacks, look at it as an opportunity for God to do great things supernaturally’. After all, God had promised me he would take care of all this and he would not forsake me. There were times though, that my ‘flesh’ got the best of me and I fell short of what God expected me to act like. The first month went by with nothing happening to settle my position one way or the other. My rent came due and then overdue. I had no transportation or money for riding the bus. Everything was running out for me. One night, I had a pity party for myself before God. I thought in my heart; I had done all his Word had told me to do and time was running out! (It was doubt and unbelief talking to me.) The gentle Spirit of Jesus pointed out to me ‘who’ was the real cause of all this havoc … satan. Being a ‘mature Christian’, God wanted me to handle this in the way I had been taught, by faith. But he would be with me if I fell. I searched God’s word in the Spirit, and found where I had been in error. Then I got really angry – but I turned my anger away from God and where it belonged. I took authority over my body in Jesus’ name and ordered satan to take his hands off of me! (I had done this before … but now there was authority in my voice). I spoke to my body and commanded it in Jesus’ name to respond to God’s words of healing. I apologized to God and forgave the doctors and ambulance attendants which contributed to my problems. I forgave the system for letting me slip through the cracks. Soon, I could feel God’s strength coming back into my body. Remember, I showed you where God’s word said we should forgive? I had been in unforgiveness. I praised God and spoke God’s word over my body and my ministry for two days. By the end of those two days, my body started responding. I also had been confessing with my mouth and my words that I was sick and disabled. After several more weeks of prayer, I finally was well enough to go back to work as a secretary. I moved back in with my daughter once I could pay my share of the bills. Within three months of the episode in Florida, of a broken neck, stroke damage and desperation, I was again healed and restored. I need to tell you that my healing started manifesting after I mailed a letter to the Social Security Administration telling them that I did not need their money, that God had healed me. I wrote the letter in faith as I did not see the healing as yet. Healing came after I acted on my faith. While I was pursuing that disability check, I was constantly having to tell many people what was wrong with me when at the same time, I was trying to believe God for health. Once God enlightened me to what I should have already known, I figured out that I could not speak health and sickness over my circumstances at the same time and get good results. I corrected my speech and I acted healed to the best of my ability. “Faith without works (action) is dead, being alone.” When all ‘hell’ breaks loose in our lives, we need to sit back and ask ourselves what our words and actions are doing to our faith walk. Are they in agreement? More lessons in God’s Word About one year after I came to accept Jesus, I was still troubled by the Spirit of Fear. I was living alone with just my baby daughter, Shelly. She was eleven months old. We were drifting from church to church, trying to find one that ‘lived what they believed’! (You will never find a perfect church. We all fall short in some areas because we still have that old flesh. Don’t judge your church or church members by their mistakes. Judge whether to keep going there by what is taught there. If they teach the truth, then they are heading in the right direction and so will you.) We had just moved into a duplex apartment in Eastlake, Alabama. I was being attacked by old fears with a vengeance. I had a fear of fire, a fear that my children would be taken away from me; and, a fear of dying and leaving my youngest daughter alone in this life. And that big fear …money problems. I had a new neighbor, who was from Old Mexico. She dabbled in fortune telling (harmless stuff, I thought). After a few weeks of listening to her tarot card reading and palm readings, I started seeing scary manifestations around my house. Being raised Catholic gave me a small amount of knowledge about possession and exorcism. But first hand contact in that area was out of my league. Fear started to have a new meaning to me. All kinds of fearful thoughts plagued me day and night. One night I had gotten Shelly to sleep after giving her a bath. I went to the kitchen and put away her baby-bathtub in between the sink and the stove. I did a few dishes and went back into the living room to check on the baby. I sat in a chair and started letting my mind wander and drift over the last few days. Fear started talking to my mind. I thought I smelled smoke from the kitchen. I checked, but there was nothing. I was terrified of dying in a fire because of some things in my past (my aunt died in a fire). I checked the kitchen and the rest of the house several times before bedtime. I was afraid to go to sleep for fear that a fire would start while I slept. So I decided to sleep on the couch near the door, just in case! But I couldn’t sleep. The devil started speaking to my mind, telling me he would kill me and Shelly. I got out my bible to read so I would have peace. I prayed for deliverance, but nothing was working. I did not have a regular pastor as yet, so I called a Catholic priest whom I had known in previous years. It was after midnight, when I called. Satan was telling my mind that no one could help me. I knew Jesus could, but I didn’t know what to do to ‘activate’ his help on my behalf. This may sound funny to anyone who has not been there. But, I really did not know what to do. I could not function being so fearful all the time. It effected my work, and my private life. I got the priest out of a deep sleep. He told me very stiffly to read ‘James’ in the bible and hung up on me. As I hung up the phone, there was a sudden crashing noise coming from the kitchen. I was paralyzed in fear. But I had to protect Shelly, so I slowly moved towards where the noise came from. Satan told my mind that his spirit was there in the room, and I was as good as dead unless I quit praying and renounced Jesus. In the kitchen, several dishes had been knocked off the shelf and the baby bathtub had been slung across the room. The devil told my mind that he could do the same to me. The only other Christian I knew to call who might understand was my sister, who lived in Idaho. I ran to the living room, grabbed the baby and placed my call. I was so unnerved, that it took three tries to get her number to ring. By the time she picked up the phone, I was in tears and terrified. She was a wonderful help to me. She prayed with me on long-distance until I calmed down. She gave me some good bible references to claim in prayer about protection. We finally got off the phone. I lay down and tried to go to sleep. The devil tried one more time to scare me. He told me he was sending a demon to kill my daughter and I. At that moment, I heard a terrible scratching sound at the door. It sounded like something was trying to tear my screen door off. I picked up my bible and began reading the scriptures in Psalm 91 out loud, which my sister had given to me. Soon, I was again calm and all was quiet. I fell asleep praying and quoting God’s word. God was teaching me to use his word to fight my battles with the enemy. My neighbor came over about 10 AM. She was looking at my door funny, so I went outside with her and looked. My screen door had three sets of large claw marks from the top to the bottom. Then I knew that satan could manifest himself to us in power, and that he was a real foe. But I also remembered that Jesus’ Word made him go away. Later, I learned that playing around with ‘tarot cards’, ‘ouija boards’ and any thing occult can be an opening for satan to come into your life. Even horoscope reading can open the door to the spirit of doubt and unbelief and be a strange God or Idol to you. An Idol is any thing or any one you place before God, who is supposed to be your only and final source, as a Christian. Sometimes we do things ‘just in fun’, and we don’t take it seriously. But satan is a legalist. If you open a door for him, he will come in and make himself right at home. “Stay away from idols”. Make Jesus and the Word of God the final authority in your life and satan cannot bother you. Once we see clearly, based on God’s word, we can take appropriate action and be successful. All it takes is wisdom and understanding to get things moving in the spiritual realm again. If I had not had the god given wisdom and understanding of how faith works and how to correct my negative actions, I would still be in that same condition today. Here is a little equation of how wisdom works for us: Wisdom + Believing = Understanding Understanding + Action = Faith Faith + Forgiveness – Worry = Answered Prayer!!! CHAPTER FOURTEEN THE PROMISE OF SUCCESS Ephesians 2:10 “We are God’s handiwork, recreated in Christ Jesus, that we may do those good works which God predestined for us, that we should walk in them.” This chapter is a short version of my own conversion to Christ and a testimony of how God’s word or promises will change your failure into success. God will not stop short of a promise, if we believe. If we don’t believe, it is our doubt which stops God’s promise from reaching us. II Timothy 4:18 “And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom…” Colossians 1:13,14 “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 10) “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” I Corinthians 2:9 “God has prepared the paths of a man that loves him.” When God has placed a ‘calling to minister’ on someone, even before that person knows what God has called them to do; the angels of the Lord begin directing their path to accomplish what God has spoken over them. Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Jeremiah 1:8 “Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.” Some of the things we go through are allowed by God, although NOT EVER instigated by God, so that we will have experience as an overcomer in certain areas. God cannot send someone who does not understand to the rescue of someone else. Even though my pain was real and uncomfortable in the trials I have been through, I can honestly thank God for these experiences now as I reflect on some of the dear souls I could help and bring to Christ just because I understood and had been where they were. I think any mature person would agree that no matter how much book-learning we have; we all learned more from our practical experiences in life. To know a concept is different than seeing and feeling and touching a task. When we read about something, we learn techniques to accomplish something. When we have already experienced the task, we gain confidence in our abilities. (see I John 5:14,15) I was one of five children, born into a military family. I was a withdrawn child, never believing that I was loved – always falling short of being what I desired to be (this was no reflection on my family who were wonderful and helping me all the time). I was the most insecure person I have ever come across … not anything about me would predict the ministry God planned for me. I always had a reverence for God and was very fearful of ending up in Hell. How could God ever love me enough to take me to heaven to be with Him? Everything I set my hand to seemed destined to fail until I met Jesus and first-hand experienced his saving grace and boundless love and mercy. I went to high school a shy girl, who had romantic dreams of a house full of children and a husband who would love me like I always wished for someone to love me. It was not to be. I never dated anyone until I graduated from high school at age 16, and I married the first boy I fell for at 18. In retrospect, I did not really love my husband, but I expected to find the love I looked for all my life in him. For eight years, we stayed together in a love/hate relationship. We had two children…a girl in 1970 and a boy in 1971. During this time I didn’t go to church much because I was bitter that my ‘dream’ was lost and I was miserable. Where was this perfect love I yearned for? My heart cried out to God; but, I didn’t know how to pray. I was angry with God because HE let me down in my eyes. One night, while I was at work, my husband took my children, moved everything out of our house, had the utilities cut off (it was January); and, I came home at midnight to a cold, dark empty house. All my things were broken or had been given to the neighbors. While I was discovering all this, my husband’s friends stole my car. I spent that night alone, afraid for my children and wanting to die. My children had become my life. They loved me unconditionally and now they were gone. Theirs was the only true love I had ever known. I cursed the name of Jesus! I got very bitter. No one would help to find my children. The police told me if they were with their father, they couldn’t interfere. In the next few days, I slit my wrists twice, but was too much of a coward to make it good. I cried many tears, but no one heard me. At that time, I was working for a Detective Agency with a man who, for the moment, was my salvation. He fixed an old car for me so I could keep working. By using tough love, he made me angry enough to fight for the first time in my life. He taught me how to be self-sufficient and how to have confidence in myself. I fell in love with him. Bill was 10 years older than I was and I idolized him. The only problem was, I found out later, he was married and had children, and was just separated from his wife. We had an affair for the next four years, while I battled to get my children back and he was on again/off again with his wife. I knew I was looking for love in the wrong places and finally broke off our relationship three weeks before I found out I was pregnant with his child. He went back to his wife; and, as he was a Federal Marshall, he knew how to disappear when he wanted to, so I couldn’t tell him about the baby. Between being pregnant and alone and being in the middle of a custody battle over my children, I became severely depressed. I ended up living in my car and lost my job because I was pregnant. I lost 17 pounds during my pregnancy and I couldn’t seem to get Foodstamps, because I had no address. Talk about being at the bottom of the barrel. This was it for me. My counselor at the Foodstamp Office, told me that if I didn’t have a place to live when the baby was born, they would take her away from me. I already knew the pain of loosing two children. I also knew that I couldn’t take loosing another child. I decided to tell Bill about the baby. I didn’t know where to find him; but I knew he met with other police officers once a month at a certain park. I decided I would tell him there. I actually prayed for the first time in years and I knew God would make Bill want to take care of his baby and me. On the day of the confrontation, I waited at the entrance to the park for Bill. He drove in and I was standing there by my car, a full nine months pregnant. He was polite, but cool and wouldn’t let me tell him it was his baby. He went to be with his friends and I went to pieces. I had everything I owned in my car, so I dug out a bottle of 200 aspirin and a blanket. I was out of my mind with pain. My heart was broken – not mendable. I had nowhere to go. I left my car at the entrance to the park (knowing that Bill would see it late that night when he left the park). In my unstable mind, I thought if there were a God, Bill would find me in time and save our baby and me. If not, then, I didn’t want to live and I didn’t want this baby to grow up without a mother – like my other two children. I laid down on the blanket and looked up into the sky with uncontrollable tears rolling down my face and I cried out “God, if you truly love me, do something, because I just have no reason to live and no one ever loved me like I loved them”. As I spoke to God, I was feeding myself the aspirin. Soon, I just lay there waiting to die. I heard everyone leaving the park. No one came to find me. I felt so alone. What a fool I was. I waited and waited for the final peace to come. I desired death. I was 29 years old on that night in the park when I was waiting to die. I knew I deserved death. Around midnight, I came into my right mind and realized that I wasn’t even sick. But, I was worried about my baby. I forced myself to drive to the hospital with a phony complaint. I had them check the baby and myself out. To my amazement, they could not find anything wrong with either of us. Even the blood tests did not show the massive doses of aspirin I had taken just hours before. That night, I became a believer in God. He had done something wonderful for me. He let me know that He loved me! – even after what I had just done! I should have died that night and my old self truly did die. Later, in a Waffle House parking lot, I really prayed for the first time, as a broken and contrite spirit. I raised my hands to surrender all to my savior, Jesus; and asked him to make something of me that He could love. As his Holy Spirit cradled me in the back seat of that car that cold February night, I gave my heart and my life to Jesus and dedicated my unborn child to Him. I am forever grateful for the Blood Jesus shed to cover my sins and made a way for a poor, unloved, wretch like me. I’ll never regret my decision to give my life to Jesus! There have been many more pits I have traveled through and my heart has been broken many more times by the world; but, Jesus was always there to love me and be Jehovah Jira, my provider. He restored my children to me by his love. His love never fails! I am a walking testimony of that fact and I give all the Glory to Jesus’ Name. You see, Jesus is a gentleman and he won’t force himself on you. He has probably sent many messengers into your life to tell you about him; but he will wait until you desire Him in your heart. Then he will heal you, restore you and give you the answers to all the mysteries you wondered about. But most of all, He will love you with the only perfect love there is and He will give you eternal life. Praise the Lord who loves me! He loves you, too, unconditionally! He’s just waiting for you to ask Him to come into your life. He’s been there all the time! The very fact that my daughter and I are alive is testimony enough of God’s grace in my life; but what I have become is the greater testimony. For without God’s power operating in me through God’s word, I would still be a shy introvert, with no way to express to the people in an assertive manner the great things of God. But, to Jesus’ glory and by the grace of the Father, I can now stand face to face with demons from hell and with authority, command them to obey my voice, through Christ (God’s anointing). I can stand in confidence and defeat death, sickness, poverty and all evil with the Word of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit. All that is necessary for what I set my hand to succeed is in me through Jesus and God’s promise. CHAPTER FIFTEEN THE PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE Isaiah 49:25,26 “But thus saith the Lord, even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. 26) “And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy savior and thy redeemer, the mighty one of Jacob.” Deliver: means to liberate; to give up to; to set something free that was in captivity or bondage; or deliverance: means the process of something being yielded to saftey by a high authority. Again, I will quote a part of the Lord’s prayer so you will understand that it is God’s will for us to be delivered from evil. Matthew 6:13 “ … And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…” Jesus would not have told us to pray for deliverance if it weren’t already ours for the asking. In the early 90’s, my daughter and I traveled through Huntsville, Alabama, and we stayed at a shelter for women and children for a couple of days. At night, after the children were in bed and the assigned chores were completed, the women would sit together to talk or play games or watch TV until bedtime. One night, while there, five of us were talking; and a woman about 30 years old started bragging that she was into magic and witchcraft. She turned to me and started questioning me about my God. I had not told her or anyone there, as yet, that I was a Christian. While trying to answer her questions, two other women in the room confessed to being Christians. The other woman did not believe in God. After a few of the questions, I discerned, in the spirit, that this woman questioning me was possessed by the spirits of fear and rebellion. I told her that Jesus could deliver her and set her free. She said she wanted that, but that she was afraid. This made the spirits in her very angry. And I realized that now I was not talking to the woman any longer, but to the spirits in her. They threatened to kill everyone there and to tear up the room we were in if we mentioned Jesus again. Everyone in the room was sore afraid, including myself. At this time, I had never had experience with demons manifesting to me through another person, so this was a new experience. But, I knew the word and what God said about our authority … that demons had to obey us when we spoke in Jesus’ name. I knew that I could control the demons by binding them with Jesus’ name and that if the possessed person wanted to be free, I could loose her also in Jesus’ name. Matthew 18:18 “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, is bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth, is loosed in heaven.” These were also familiar spirits to me because I had to get rid of them in my own life (I had been oppressed by them, not possessed). Oppression is an attack from the outside of you and possession is an attack from within you, where the demons actually make their home in you and control you to a degree. A possessed person cannot receive Christ’s spirit until he has been delivered of the demon. A Christian can be oppressed and still have God’s spirit in him. A possessed person can be of danger to others or to himself. Since the woman had told me, herself, that she wanted to be set free and know the love of Jesus, I got my oil to anoint her. She backed into a corner, very afraid. I couldn’t let the demons know it, but I was shaking in my shoes also. It is a very scary thing to face down a demon. I asked the two Christian ladies in the room to ‘pray in the spirit’ because they both were babies in the faith, and said they didn’t know what to do. The non-believer was watching as if mesmerized. Since I was the more mature of the three believers and I did know what God said on deliverance, I proceeded to make a cross with oil on the possessed woman’s forehead. I said, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ, the son of God, and by the blood of Jesus’… (mind you, by now the demons were screaming and threatening my child and myself) The woman’s hand immediately came up to rub the oil off. I told her it won’t come off and not only that, it was saturating her whole body and soul inside and out. She was yelling ‘I know, I know. Help me!’ The demons started accusing me of everything I ever did wrong. They even tried to embarrass me by telling everyone every fantasy I had ever thought about (this woman couldn’t have known these things). Devils fight dirty and for keeps. I told the demons to shut up in the name of Jesus and they did. I spoke the young woman’s name and ‘she’ answered me in a terrified voice. I asked her if 'when' the demons left her, if she was willing to ask Jesus into her heart and to live a Christian life. She said ‘yes’. I bound up those spirits in her in the name of Jesus and commanded them to go back to hell. The room became 'thick’ with an evil presence. Everyone felt it. Satan spoke through this woman’s mouth and said he would kill her. Then he started talking to me, trying to confuse me. I told him to be quiet and asked him if he knew who he was talking to. He looked at everyone in the room through this woman’s eyes, which had changed in appearance to a deep black color, filled with evil. He turned to the non-believer and told her he would see her in hell (see further news about this non-believer later in this book). He looked at the two Christian women and said he could see a dim light behind them. He turned to me and said he couldn’t look directly at me because the light behind me was so bright. Note: I want to tell you, at this moment, I was asking God in my mind why he was behind me??? Let me behind you Lord!!! This was not going as fast as I wanted it to, so in a voice I didn’t feel at all, I commanded satan, fear and rebellion to leave her in Jesus’ name and to go to the pits of hell. I loosed the dear lady from all of satan’ power also in Jesus’ name. It was quiet for a moment, and I was on edge, wondering if I had forgotten to do something. Then with a loud voice, the woman yelled NOOOO! Then she lost consciousness. (She was slain in the spirit, while God did his work in her.) When she awoke, she was herself, crying and thanking God and me for releasing her. She received Christ that same hour, and then she told me she had a Christian sister who had been in prayer for her. I was in awe of how God had sent me to this lady to set her free and even more in awe that Jesus had trusted me with this precious soul. I tell you nothing happens by chance in this world, if, you are led by the Spirit of God. But if I had not been obedient to the spirit of God and taken that trip, that woman may have still been a slave to those evil spirits today. Romans 8:28 “And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God; and to them that are called according to his purpose.” For days after this deliverance, satan attacked my body and spirit because he had lost this soul. Since then, I have learned from many such times of fighting battles with satan, to fight him with the word of God and faith and not to enter into casual conversations with a devil, whose only job is to try to confuse and deceive us. Hebrews 4:12 “The Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” I know I will be attacked by satan for the good I do in Jesus Christ; but I will have the victory as is told in: Revelation 12:10 “Now is come salvation and strength and the Kingdom of our God and the Power of his Christ… 11) “And they (the saints) overcame him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death.” God is no respecter of persons. What he did for this woman, he will do for anyone, who will believe. Praise and Glory to Jesus forever! CHAPTER SIXTEEN THE PROMISE OF INDIVIDUALITY “So Shall My Word Be That Cometh Forth” II Peter 1:2-4 “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power he hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be PARTAKERS of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” People who are not diligent in their search for God sometimes deny that the Bible is the actual word of God. They argue that “people” wrote the Bible and that is why they can get any meaning they want out of it. In that case, if you came to me for prayer, and you were dying, and I laid my hands on you and you were instantly healed while I was yet praying for you, who then healed you? Myself? Or God, whom I was praying to for your health? Of course, it was God who healed you, but He used myself as a vessel who was obedient to His spiritual laws to lead you to the right place where He could heal you. Since God knows our thoughts and our hearts, isn’t He also capable of choosing responsible and obedient people to write down His Word accurately? God used certain men led by the Spirit of God to write down His covenant with man, so that man could find God in his time of trouble. The world chooses to believe what they see, which is all subject to change and temporary. Romans 12:2 says…”Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds.” He means if you study his words, you will renew your mind so that you can understand with supernatural understanding. II Corr. 5:7 says “…we walk by faith, not by what we see”. And if we walk by faith, how do we obtain this faith to see beyond what the World sees? Every man is given “the” measure of faith according to God’s word enabling us to receive Christ. Faith grows after that by the Word of God. Romans 10:17 says: “faith cometh by hearing; and hearing (understanding) comes through the Word of God.” The only known Word of God is the Bible. God did not lie. He gave us a way of escape from tribulation on earth. Prov. 4:20-22 says : “ My Son, attend to my words; incline thine ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Deut. 30:19-20 says: “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: “That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice (his word) and that thou mayest cleave unto him, for he is thy life, and the length of thy days…” Our Own Power to Create One time my youngest daughter and I took a bus to Atlanta, Georgia. For several months, we had been on the run from my abusive husband, and I could not work regularly because of trying to escape this man’s wrath. I had signed up for an AFDC Check two months previously, but I had not yet gotten any money. The checks were to be forwarded to a General Delivery address in Atlanta. Then I could settle somewhere out of harms way, and not endanger any of my family. The checks were already very late and we arrived in Atlanta with only a few dollars and nowhere to stay. Only the fact that my ex-husband had tried to harm my daughter and myself would have put us in this kind of a situation. The police wouldn’t provide us with any protection unless my husband had already harmed us. I decided not to wait around for that to happen. I had prayed earnestly for God to provide for us and protect us. I believed the checks would come before we ran out of money. We were grateful to find a shelter that would take us for up to three days. We hoped that would be enough. School was about to start, and I needed to be in my own place within that three-day time frame in order to get my daughter in school. We went to the post office every day to look for the checks. They had not come on the third day, and we had to leave the shelter. We took our suitcases and went to the post office, praying that God would be on time. I told the postal worker that I came to pick up my two checks. He went to the back and came back empty handed. I just knew in my heart that God did not let me down. We had no place to go and no money. I insisted that the checks were there ‘in the name of Jesus’, and the man went back to check again. He still returned empty handed. He knew we were desperate, and apologized. We walked out of the post office – but in my spirit, I was saying over and over, ‘I don’t believe what I am hearing and seeing. God has our checks in that Post Office.’ We went back in and asked him to please check one more time. He did. The checks were not there! We walked back outside and I told God I knew he was going to give us that money that day! I asked him to send the money to me by his angels. As we walked up the street, I started praising God and thanking him for the money and thanking him for being on time! We had walked about a block from the post office when I heard someone yelling ‘Hey Lady’. I turned around to see the postal worker running to meet me with the checks in hand. He smiled and told me ‘something’ made him go look one more time and he found the checks right where he had looked for them all the other times. “I don’t know how I missed them. They were right on top of the stack”, he told me. It was then after spending some time thanking my God, that I realized faith means you hold out and don’t doubt until you SEE the answer, nomatter what your eyes and senses are telling you. God is always on time. Satan tried to rob my family by making me doubt the power of God to answer my prayers. But the bible says to ‘resist the devil and he will flee from you’. (James 4:7) If I hadn’t trusted God, we would have been homeless and without money that night. Trust in the Lord and in the power of his might! (Deut. 8:18 “But you shall (earnestly) remember the Lord your God for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth”) I believe God sent angels to convince that postal worker to go back and find those checks right where the angels put them. My words of faith CREATED the answer to my prayers because I resisted what I could see, and waited on what I had prayed for, through the Lord, by faith. This is just one of hundreds of such instances where God has moved mountains for me. Matthew 21:21 “ …If ye shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done. 22) “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 9:29 “ …According to your faith be it done unto you” More Faith A spiritual daughter of mine, ‘Sandi’ and I decided to take a trip to California from Huntsville, Alabama with her baby boy and my daughter. We wanted to visit the TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) in Tustin, California and to minister God’s word along the way. Sandi was the NON-BELIEVING woman in the shelter in Huntsville, Alabama. That night, because of the deliverance of the witch, she became a believer. We only had $30.00 between us, but decided God would provide for us, as long as we were doing his work. We traveled listening to Amy Grant’s ‘The Collection’, and Kenneth Copeland’s ‘Faith vs Fear’ tape, which inspired our faith and joy for the trip. Every night, God provided shelter, gas money and food for us; and, there was always someone in our path, who needed Jesus, or healing or deliverance. Many miracles took place, not to mention our needs being met ‘according to God’s riches and glory!’ God fed us good things and treated us to a ‘fine’ vacation for our thirsty spirits. When we arrived in Los Angeles, we were ‘given’ a week’s stay at a luxury motel. We visited a ‘holiness church’ there and we testified for God’s glory about our trip. One day, while at a Laundromat, I met a woman with deformed hands. Her hands were so crooked and knurled, she could not straighten out her fingers. She had rheumatoid arthritis. Her wedding ring had not been able to come off for years. She was a believer, but had not received healing as yet. I asked her if we could pray with her the prayer of faith. She told me it had been done many times before – but, yes, I could pray with her. I counseled with her in what God’s promise was for her health and asked her if she believed what God said. She said yes. So I began to pray. After a few minutes I told the lady to raise up her hands in praise to the God who healed her. As she stretched forth her arms and hands into the air in praise, her wedding ring fell to the floor. God made her ‘whole’ while she was giving praise and glory to God. As Sandi and I finished our journey, we were going down I-20 through Texas and we had asked the Lord for a sign if we were correct in returning home. Both of our eyes bulged in awe when up ahead of us, there was a perfect double rainbow crossing over the highway in our path. What glory to behold, the glory of our Lord! CHAPTER SEVENTEEN THE PROMISE OF FORGIVENESS Acts 6:4-8 “… We will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word: 5) “And the saying pleased the whole multitude; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost… 6) “Whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. 7) “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly, and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. 8) “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.” Acts 8:1-3 “And Saul was consenting unto (Stephen’s) his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2) “And devout men carried Stephen to his burial and made great lamentation for him. 3) “As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling (drawing with force) men and women committed them to prison.” Saul, who was later named Paul, was a Christian killer and church destroyer. He thought he was right and just ridding the world of a pest. He was present at the stoning of Stephen, the prophet of God and in agreement with the forces that were. Acts 9:1-6 “And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2) “And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3) “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4) “And he fell to the earth and heard a voice saying unto him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5) “And he said “Who are thou, Lord?” And the Lord said, “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks (a sharp brad or pin in the end of a stick: used inurging cattle or inciting or stinging into action)” 6) “And he, trembling and astonished said, Lord what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, ‘Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do’.” Paul ended up being the most famous and well published apostle of Christ. He wrote thirteen of the Epistles in the Bible, and suffered much for our Lord, Jesus. He also walked in the spirit and was the first to go out to reach the Gentiles with God’s new covenant to men…salvation through Christ. Now, if Jesus could forgive a murderer of his people, and make him one of the greatest in the Kingdom of God, he can forgive anything you have done. Jesus’ blood is enough! When Jesus died, it was enough to cover whatever you have been guilty of. Matthew 9:6 “But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.” Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9) “Not of works, lest any man should boast, 10) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” God also expects us to do (by his example) what he does. We, also are to forgive others as God does. Mark 11:25,26 “And when ye stand praying, FORGIVE, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26) “But if you do not forgive, neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” If you hold a grudge against anyone, it can affect your own salvation and God’s forgiveness. So, if you are not getting prayers answered, search your soul for any unforgiveness. Matthew 7:1-5 “Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2) “For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3) “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4) “Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, let me pull the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5) “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” CHAPTER EIGHTEEN THE PROMISE OF JUDGMENT Malachi 4:1,2 “For Behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven: and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2) “But unto you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings: and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall.” Warning, Correction, Then Judgment Hebrews 6:4-6 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5) “And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6) “If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” Psalm 14:1 “The fool hath said in his heart: there is no God.” John 8:47 “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he willhold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30) “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31)“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32)“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” If any man has convinced himself that there is no hell and no punishment for their earthly deeds, they have only fooled themselves. This same man, who does not believe in God, in life after death or in heaven or hell, will watch the X Files, Charmed, or Buffy, the Vampire without skepticism. They will track UFO’s and go to the Palm readers and Psychics in wonder. This is called selective believing. (If it feels good, believe it and do it) But, the truth will catch up to you. Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean it is not true or doesn’t exist! I don’t like spinach, but it still exists and it is even good for my body. If you have to like something or see something to believe it exists, do you believe in the wind, the heat in summer, the cold in winter? Do you believe in Love? You can’t see any of these things. There are many things that exist but have not been seen by men. Do you have a conscience? Can you see it? Can you touch it? Where does it come from? Why does it cause so much trauma or satisfaction, when it cannot be seen? Can anyone prove it exists? The only way we know these things are real is through the testimony of those who have experienced them or by our own trial and error. When we hear the truth though, our conscience will bear witness to the truth, if we listen to it. There is a point at which our conscience will turn itself off due to lack of use. God said not to pray for those. Hebrews 3:2,3 “For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; 3) “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him…” CHAPTER NINETEEN THE PROMISE OF FREEDOM TO CHOOSE God will allow all people to be individuals, to be creative, and to be their own master. He will not force himself on anyone. He does send His people to them to show them the truth and His love. It is up to the individual, whether he will accept or reject Christ. Jesus loves every person the same, enough to have died in their place because of their sin. It was each of our debt to pay for our own disobedience. We deserved death, but Jesus died in our place, so we could live, if we would believe on Him. The debt for all your sins and mine is cancelled. We CAN turn our backs on what Jesus did for us; and, die to pay for our own sins. Or, we can accept what he did and live eternally with Him. Before I knew Jesus, my husband and I owned an older home in Midfield, Alabama. I had a very nice Christian neighbor, who would help me a lot with the kids, and we would take our children everywhere together. We had a pond in our back yard and we would all have picnics out there in the warm weather. The only bad thing to me about her was that ‘Brenda’ was a Christian. You know one of those fanatics who always talks about Jesus. I thought I was very ‘spiritual’ and the things she told me were like an abrasive to my conscience. I started making excuses so that I did not have to listen to her. It made me uncomfortable to hear what she had to say. After all, she wasn’t perfect either. I would not come to the door anymore when she knocked. Although my choices before this witness from God were not what God wanted, there was a ‘seed’ planted in my spirit consisting of all the Word of God she spoke to me. She started my mind asking myself questions. Philippians 3:18,19 “For many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 20) “whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose Glory is in their Shame, who mind earthly things.” This ‘seed’ she planted in my spirit eventually became faith, when I did finally turn to Jesus and turned my SHAME TO GLORY. On reflection, I truly wish someone had cared enough to offend me (with Christ) sooner! I wasted 29 years of my life by making the wrong choices – even though God had been with me all along in the form of His messengers, who pursued me for Christ’s sake. Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” When you come to Jesus, he will not only forgive you of your sins, but he will forget them. Matthew 16:24-26 “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me, 25)“For whosoever will save his life shall loose it; and whosoever will loose his life for my sake shall find it. 26)“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and loose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Deuteronomy 30:29-30 says: “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, CHOOSE LIFE, that both thou and thy seed may live: “That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice (his word) and that thou mayest cleave unto him, for he is thy life, and the length of thy days…” When you are praying for the lost to draw them to Christ, there are some who will need deliverance from evil spirits before they can come to Jesus fully. Deliverance is something all Christians need knowledge of; but, few will be called to this ministry. Don’t misunderstand me. All born again, spirit filled Christians with the power of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost are capable of doing the same thing. Some Christians are too immature in the word to know what to do against a supernatural foe. And, some just do not want to do it. No inexperienced Christian, if they have a choice, should try to do deliverance on their own. For your sake and the sake of the one needing deliverance, you must protect that person by making the correct decisions and by knowing the right moment to pray. You must follow the leading of the Holy Ghost or disaster will follow for one or both of you. Matthew 12:43-45 “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44) “Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out: and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. NOTE: when a man is delivered from possession by a demon, he is empty until he receives the spirit of God through Jesus, or is possessed again by a demon.) 45) “Then goeth he, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” Matthew 7:6 “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” Pray for discernment in order to know when you can and when you cannot free someone from demonic activity. Make sure the one you want to pray for ‘wants’ set free. I have made some mistakes in this area and disaster followed for both myself and the one I tried to help. One dear man is still in bondage at this writing, because of my mistakes. I thought he was suicidal and I bound up and cast out spirits to ‘save his life’; but he did not ‘want’ this at this point in his life and he has suffered by my hand immensely. Not only did he not get set free, he is in worse shape; and, he turned on me and has hated me. I can only rely on God to help this man, because I was too eager. (But my faith for this man’s soul will still come through.) You have to be careful when you are dealing with souls. This man did not know what was troubling him. He did not understand that I could have helped get him free from his problems and illness. I should have waited and just prayed for God to protect him and bring him to the knowledge of Christ. It is a hard lesson. I loved that man. God was merciful in that the man is still alive and it is not too late for him to come to the Lord. I pray for him every day. Life and Christianity are loaded with choices. Some people make the wrong choice and will pay for that mistake with their lives and with their eternal soul being in hell. Take this real life story for example: James, the Unsavable In the early ninties, I was buying a duplex to live in, which came into my hands with someone already living in the other unit. After our first meeting, I discerned that this tenant I inherited was going to be a challenge to my faith. ‘James’, (for the purpose of this story), said he was a Christian and he exhibited some of the actions and vocabulary of a Christian, but there was an evil presence about him that I could feel in my spirit. Some of the neighbors had said that weird things happened around there when he was present. After several weeks of living next door to James, I questioned him about his background and his faith. He was not working and was getting his rent paid by a local church. His wife’s parents belonged to that church. His wife was confined to a wheelchair because of a traffic accident which deformed her legs. She was also seven months pregnant. My heart went out to her because it was going to be hard for her in her condition to be a mother to her baby. She was evidently trying to be the Christian that her parents raised her to be, but something was missing. Over the next few months, James would come over and ask me to pray that God would heal his wife. I would do this and after praying, I would worship God in my prayer language. James would raise his hands and do the same; but it was not like any other Godly language I had ever heard. In fact, it was unnerving to my spirit to hear it. I found it hard to feel the Holy Ghost around him. I questioned James again about his background; and I found out that his mother had been a high priest of satan, and his father had been a warlock. This man was raised to believe the opposite of everything in the bible. He had been offered to satan as a baby, not as a sacrifice, but to become a High Priest like his mother. Both of his parents were deceased. I counseled him and his wife on several occasions. They were having manifestations of supernatural incidents in their home, and although both confessed Jesus as their savior, I could see demonic traits in both of them. James lost control one night and beat his pregnant wife. He said sometimes he did things like he was just an onlooker, but could not stop. He asked for my help in deliverance from satan. I had my doubts about what to do for this man, but I am in God’s service and I would do what I knew to do for him. If I knew then what I know now, things may have turned out differently. If someone is not honest with you, you cannot know the truth and help them. It is important to counsel with every person needing healing or deliverance, so that the truth can set them free! For three hours that night I called out, bound up, and loosed James from over fifty demons which had made their home in him. Every one of them left him, usually through his mouth by throwing up or gagging. During the last part of this deliverance, James became violent and threw a machete at me, nearly killing me. I bound up the spirit of murder in him and cast it out. I commanded any other demons in him to speak to me and tell me their names, so that I could cast them back to Hell, also. James, himself spoke then and told me there were a few demons he wanted to keep because they gave him pleasure. These were lustful spirits, and I informed him that to receive Christ, he had to give up all of them. He would not do it. After all the efforts to set this man free so that he could live in Christ, and be free, he would not let go of these last demons, which were probably the ones that brought in all the other spirits in the first place. James wanted to keep ‘these few’ demons and still have Christ. This is not possible. The next day, James was worse off than before because his soul could not receive Christ if he was possessed. Good and evil have nothing to do with one another. I cried for days for this lost soul and for his wife and their child. James made some very bad choices. I still pray for them. If James had told me about wanting to keep some of the demons, I would never have started the procedure. Unless a person is willing to surrender all to Jesus, they cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. (“No man can serve two masters..”) What I tried to do for him would have worked if the right choice had been made. God loves this man. But God will not interfere with our choices like satan does. Each of us must make up our own mind and work out our own salvation with the Lord. We have a choice. Making the wrong choice means spiritual death. As a Christian and a Deliverance Minister, my mistakes have caused much pain. Even one soul that I cannot reach for Christ is too many. I am so sad for those souls who would not accept God’s gift of life. We must pray for the souls of all men. Every day, I reflect back on where I came from, so that I can better understand those who are still lost. They do not know they are lost. If they knew, they would correct themselves. Pray that God will bring workers into His harvest. One thing of interest here was that ‘James’ truly wanted God to heal his wife and to save them. One time when I was praying for his wife’s twisted legs, prior to the exorcism, he brought her over in her wheel chair. I had fasted and been in prayer, so I had the faith to move mountains (or legs) that day. I anointed her with oil and commanded her legs to straighten in Jesus’ name. Then we held her up and started walking her around the room. I told her to try to do something with her legs that she hadn’t been able to do before. Everyone there saw her legs start to move and we thought God was going to perform a miracle right there … but nothing happened after that. The reason she did not get her miracle was because she and her husband were not capable of receiving spiritual life to receive healing until they were set free and delivered from demonic possession. They had no faith (word of God working in them). They were filled with evil spirits which could not comprehend the knowledge and grace of God. James and his wife made the wrong choice. Matthew 13:58 “And he (Jesus) did NOT many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” Even the Lord had trouble doing works in the presence of someone who did not believe with faith, or who was not willing. To have a choice between life and death is an easy decision to make. Yet some of you wait and some will die before you can bring yourself to choose life. My hope for you is that in some way, the Promises mentioned herein have quickened your spirit to the TRUTH, so that this choice is made easier and more real for you. This choice will determine your eternal place of habitation. “Now, is the time of Salvation”. This may be the last time it is offered to you before you pass on. It is too important for you to put it off. I pray that my experiences in my walk with the Lord, will inspire you in ‘your’ walk with the Lord. There is nothing impossible if you can believe! IN CLOSING… With this book, I send you my love and the love of Jesus. Take this few moments to say the prayer of faith with me and become a Citizen in God’s Kingdom forever more. “Father God, I believe Jesus Christ is your son, who was offered, because of your love, as a sacrifice for my own sins and the sins of the world. I believe Jesus died and rose again in victory over satan and all evil. “Forgive me of all my sins and be Lord over my life. Use me mightily for Jesus’ sake and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Deliver me from all evil in Jesus’ name. “I surrender myself to Jesus totally and accept the gift of life which Jesus spilled his own blood to obtain for me. Change me Lord to be what you predestined for me to be. Thank you for this gift of Love and Eternal Life. Thank you for all of your Promises, which I am now entitled to as your child. Amen.” If you earnestly said this prayer, no matter how you ‘feel’ you have just become the newest citizen in the Kingdom of God. You went from spiritual death to spiritual life and now have access, by faith, to all of God’s promises in His Word. I need to tell you that some persons have a great feeling of freedom when they ask Jesus to come into their life and some people don’t feel anything at all at that time. No matter what you feel or don’t feel, you still received the same saving power and anointing. ‘We are saved by faith’, that is believing without seeing (or feeling). Get into a ‘Bible Teaching’ Church and grow through God’s word. Ask God for his wisdom. He will supply it for you. Congratulations Brother or Sister! Jesus loves you and your are now a new creature, and clean by the Blood of the Lamb! Thank you Jesus for this precious new soul which has passed from Shame to Glory! If you have prayed this prayer, please write to this ministry and let us know! We will rejoice with you and put you on our prayer list, and sign you up for our newsletter.
