On July 27, 2005, tragedy struck our little farm. A pit bull forced his way into our girls' pen and killed all five of our Pygmy does; leaving only our Nubian wether "Jackie" alive, but badly injured.

Another dog was outside the pen, and tried to attack Ty as he arrived at the barn that morning.

Luckily, the dogs hadn't gotten into our buck's pen, so our two boys were okay.
This page is dedicated to Annabelle, Corvette, Bella, Tinkerbelle, and Layla.

We miss our girls terribly, and decided to put together this page of favorite photographs to honor them.
At left: "Layla", who actually had belonged to my friend Lois, but lived with our goat family.
These were our first Pygmy goat kids, born in April and May of 2004. Left to right: "Tinkerbelle", "Corvette" and "Buckbeak" (who was in the next pen during the attack, and is okay. He is now grown up to be a nice young buck who lives with his dad "Rupert").
At left: "Annabelle" with her babies "Corvette" and "Buckbeak",  taken in April 2004 when the kids were only about 2 days old.  I always loved this picture and had to include it on this page.
This is "Jackie", who survived the attack. Our vet gave him only a 25% chance of recovery, but he proved to have a strong will to live. He healed incredibly well and we loved him until his death in July 2006. We miss you buddy!

The babies liked to snuggle in their feed tub in the warm sun.
