Strangers with Candy
Who Wants Cake?

Once again, Jerri is in danger of becoming the laughingstock of Flatpoint High; this time, it's
because she has to get braces.  Principal Blackman suspects student Kimberly Timbers of being a
retard, but he needs one of her peers to confirm that hunch.  Mr. Noblet tells Jerri that since she
has braces and retards "tend to be drawn to shiny objects," she should spy on Kimberly (her
lockermate) and find out if she is indeed retarded.  Jerri doesn't want to do that, but Mr. Noblet
informs her that if she doesn't do as asked, she won't get to go on the upcoming field trip to Good
Time Island.  Jerri finds out that retards are just like regular people and she knows that Kimberly is the one person who's been nice to her since she got her braces, so she doesn't want to snitch on her.  (Kimberly even seems to be too innocent to realize her own double entendre when wondering where Jerri is:  "She usually enjoys pleasure...I sure hope she comes.")  Jerri gives a moving speech on the Good Time Island Fun Bus about not snitching.  However, at the last minute, she announces that Kimberly is retarded, and Jerri gets to go to Good Time Island.

Mr. Jellineck scenes:  Mr. Jellineck is sketching a nude Mr. Noblet (a sketch which Principal
Blackman later places on his office wall) when Jerri arrives to tell Mr. Noblet that she has a report
to make about Kimberly.  Mr. Jellineck overhears that Jerri has a report for Principal Blackman
and he asks Jerri what it's all about.  She tells him that she's going to report Kimberly as retarded,    but he thinks at first that she was going to say that Kimberly was gay.  Mr. Jellineck informs her
that "most gay people are retarded."  Jerri wants to know if Kimberly is gay, so Mr. Jellineck
advises, "Make a pass at her and find out.  She'd have to be retarded to turn you down."  After Jerri  asks if retarded people are dangerous, Mr. Jellineck tells her to find out, before she snitches.  They
listen to a book entitled, "Retardation:  A Celebration."  The book concludes that retarded people
"all want cake" and, more importantly, "They're just like you and me."  Mr. Jellineck is also briefly  seen during Jerri's moving speech on the Fun Bus.

During the closing credits, Mr. Jellineck can be seen dancing on the Fun Bus wearing a sailor's hat.
