Hi, I am Debnath Mukherjee.
I was born in Calcutta, India. My father is a medical practitioner, my brother is currently in UK to specialize in cancer medicine (oncology). My
mother did her BA in History.
I did my schooling at St. Joseph's College, Bowbazar and at Calcutta Boys' School both in Calcutta. I went
on to get a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. Subsequently, I went to the US
to pursue higher studies and got my Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University.
After that I launched myself into a career in software engineering. I spent more than four years in two database
companies, Sybase Inc and Informix Inc.
I came back to India in May, 1999 and joined a software company called I-Kinetics, which specialized in distributed
computing. I-Kinetics was subsequently acquired by eForce Inc., an eBusiness company. Since December 2000, I am working for Siemens Information Systems Limited.
My academic/professional interests are in databases, distributed computing, software architecture and performance.
My leisure is spent reading books. I enjoy classical music
(mostly eastern, some western). I have training in Eastern Classical Music from Sangeet Shastri Sib Kumar Chatterjee. Apart
from classical music, I like some light Western music, notably songs by Simon and Garfunkel.
