The Andrew RALSTON Annals Published by authority of the Andrew RALSTON Reunion to convey information to the members of the Family. Hopedale, O., September 15, 1930. The First Andrew RALSTON Reunion. Andrew RALSTON, Revolutionary Soldier, who was born in Scotland on February 25, 1753, and who died near Bloomfield (now called Bloomingdale), Jefferson County, Ohio, on September 11, 1827, was an outstanding patriot. He served in Capt. Casper WEITZELL's Company, Col. Samuel MILES' Pennsylvania Rifle Regiment, and in Capt. John ROBB's Company of the State Regiment of Foot, which was later merged into the Second Pennsylvania, and the Thirteenth Pennsylvania, as a Private. He later served in Lieut. Col. Henry MILLER's Company of the Thirteenth Pennsylvania, as a Sergeant. He participated in the Battles of Long Island, Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, and in the Southern Campaign under Gen. Nathanael GREENE. He was wounded in the scalp at Brandywine and taken prisoner at Long Island. After the surrender at Yorktown, he returned to York County and there marriede Sophia WALTEMYER on December 19, 1785. Twelve children were born to this union in Pennsylvania prior to the migration. Your appointed historian sought to preserve some of this family record in brief printed form, and in doing so, attempted to locate the graves of this early family. In company with Robert H. RALSTON, Mrs. Anna Mastin SMITH, Mrs. Elizabeth Ralston MICKEY, Mrs. Myrtle Walkinshaw SHUPE, Andrew Ralston WALKINSHW and Paul Reiner WALKINSHAW, and Mary Louise RALSTON, all descendants, he located and temporarily marked these ancestral graves in Beech Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, two miles south of Hopedale, Ohio, on May 24, 1930. On that occasion it was also decided to hold the First Annual Andrew RALSTON Reunion at Beech Spring Church on August 23, 1930. Beautiful invitations to the number of 250 were mailed out to heads of families. These were provided through the generosity of George Lincoln RALSTON, Los Angeles, California, a descendant. Thirty-six auto loads containing one hundred fifty-two RALSTONs came to this first reunion, and it was a decided success in every particular.
