Here's a picture of my mother and I. No, she's not an AKA; her shirt says "Special mother of an AKA". The reason why this picture is so important to me is because my mother is pretty much "anit-Greek". She wasn't thrilled about my desire to join a Greek-lettered organization. However, because she understood that Alpha Kappa Alpha was and still is in my heart, she wears this shirt with pride. I love my mother and I thank God for sending me such a great supporter. (Yes, De-Andrea is a true "mama's baby!") |

This is a picture of some of my sorors and me at our probate show, April 7, 2001. Because I was on a line of 35, it was inevitable that some people would bond quicker. I bonded with these ladies and I thank God for introducing them all into my life. I've learned that everyone comes into your life for a reason. Even though we're not all as close as we were in this picture, these ladies...my line sisters...hold a very special place in my heart. |

I have one picture of all 35 and this isn't it, but it's close. :-) This was also at our probate...right before anyway. We were all anxious and excited to tell the world that we were AKAs! In retrospect, I think about the advantages of having a city-wide chapter. I was able to meet 34 of the world's most phenomenal women...and call them all my line sisters! I wonder if my prophytes knew how much we'd impact Beta Delta.... :-P Truly a point of Convergence! |
