| Lincoln Co. TN. 5 Dec 1832: I, JOEL JOHNSON, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form, following, that is to say, it is my will that all my just debts be first paid and for this purpose that my executor sell upon a credit of twelve months such part of the tract of land on which I now live, due west by a school house, to the west boundary line of the same tract. After the payment of all my debts it is my will that the whole of my property, both real and personal, remain in the possession of my wife, Margaret M. during her widowhood or until my youngest child attains to the age of twenty-one years, whichever event shall first happen, it is my will that my executors shall there sell upon a credit of twelve months the whole of my property, the proceeds of such sale, to the amount of twelve hundred dollars shall be equally divided between my wife Margaret M. and my children by her and the residue of the proceeds to such sale shall be equally divided between my said wife and children and my son Ambrose a horse, saddle, bridle and of the value of one hundred dollars. It is my will and I do direct my executor to furnish out of my property to the balance of my children, when they respectively, attain to the age of twenty one years or marry, a horse, saddle and bridle, bed and furniture, or such part of said articles as will be the value of one hundred dollars. It is my will that all my children be substantially and sufficiently educated out of the annual proceeds of my farm and property, if this fund should not be sufficient quantity for the purpose, then it is my will that my sons by my present wife, taking care not to exceed the amount to which they would be entitled according to this, my will upon the division of my property between my wife and children, as herein before mentioned, I wish to have my sons well educated, should it ever require for this purpose, the whole of the property, which I have given them. I do hereby appoint my wife Margaret guardian of all by daughters that are under the age of 21 years, and I do appoint my friend James Franklin guardian of such of my sons as are under the age of 21 years, at the time of my death, and I do hereby appoint James Hogue and James Fulton executors of this my last will and testament.
