John Boone was born 1727 in Berks Co. PA. near Redding, the son of Benjamin Boone and Ann Farmer Boone. Ann Farmer Boone died the year John was born in 1727.  John traveled with the Squire Boone family (Daniel Boone's family) to the Yadkin Valley in Rowan Co. NC by 1752. in 1753 John married Rebecca Bryan, the daughter of Morgan Bryan, Sr. and Martha Strode Bryan.  John died July 1803 in Rowan Co. NC and is buried on his plantation on Hunting Creek, due west of Mocksville, NC.  All of John's 9 children were born on the Hunting Creek farm. John Boone and Rebecca Bryan were the parents of Elizabeth "Betsy" Boone, who married Samuel Little in Rowan Co. NC. in 1801. Samuel is the father of John Angus Little who moved to Washington County, Arkansas. John Angus Little is the father of Angus York Little, who is the father of Joshua Zackaria Little, who is the father of Bonnie Lennis Little Anglin, B. 1914 in Polk Co. Arkansas.
John Boone's Cabin built in the 1750's
The John Boone Cabin pictured to the left was in the Center community about a mile from the Squire Boone homesite. It was built in the 1750's but is no longer standing.  John Boone, Squire Boone's nephew and Daniels's first cousin, came to Davie County (Rowan Co.) NC, with his uncle and his family. On December 21, 1753, he acquired a grant of 630 acre of land near Hunting Creek. His homesite was later the W.J.S. Walker place, near the Godby Road south of the Center Methodist Church. This was about a mile from the Squire Boone Bear Creek homesite. John married a woman named Rebecca Bryan.

John Boone became a successful farmer and acquired considerable land on Hunting and Bear Creek. He became a legendary figure renowned for his strength. He reportedly could lift and pull very heavy loads and is said to have killed with a pine knot a panther which was attacking a pig.
