Stephen Anglin made by hand Kentucky rifles...many were sold to the state of Kentucky for use by the guards at Frankfort Penitentiary. Stephen's son John A. Anglin was a farmer, lawyer, and served one term as Sheriff in Rockcastle County.
The Anglins were some of the first white settlers in Kentucky, arriving in Clay County circa 1800, following Daniel Boone.  James Anglin built a log cabin - all the trees within rifle range around the cabin were cut, depriving Indians, bears, and panthers the cover needed to get too close to the cabin. James was a traveling pastor for several churches - he was a Primitive Baptist, "taking neither money nor script" for his services. He supported his family by farming and blacksmithing.
Henry Anglin b. 1831 moved to Windfall, Tipton Co. Indiana and was never heard of again from any of his relatives.
Jansea Barrett had a brother named Jesse Barrett. He married July 11, 1814 in Clay Co. Ky. to Sally Edwards. "Jesse was known as a fearless Indian fighter and Tenn. hunter who was noted throughout the countryside as a man possing such great bodily strength as to enable him to dispose of a full grown bear with no weapon other than his bare hands."
Harvey Anglin b. June 10, 1829 was captured by Rebel forces at Chicamauga. He died  of starvation in 1864 in the CSA prison in Andersonville, GA.
