ABOUT MY VILLAGE
ITS POSITION
The village is situated in the middle of line drawn from
Bishnupure
town and Jayrambati(birth place of sarada
devi) . It is under jaypur block under Bishnupur
subdivision of district
Bankura .
On the opposite side of the village, there is Jaypur forest. You can get
connected to a map of my place in this page. Kindly
go and click there.
HISTORY
Name of the village has come from "ban tal". which means
under the forest. Shyamchaand temple was made by Bishnupur kings in our
village.
POPULATION
About 8000 heads in the village with arround 50 paarra
are quite peaceful instead of the different castes from Santhal to Brahmin.
A high school, a number of primary schools, a Post-office, a Mallbhum
gramin bank and a Gram Panchayat qualify the village as almost a self-sufficient
one.
ECONOMY
Most of the community are farmers. They cultivate
the lands. Some people are service-holders. They are regular either to
the district town of Bankura or to the Thana town of Jaypur or to the sub-
divisional town of Bishnupur. A part of the young generation however unfortunately
does nothing. Without any job, they became idle and only play cards !
CULTURE
A rural fair of Charak (Gaajan) is organised every Bengali
year-ending ( by April 14 ). It is the festival of Lord Shiva. Also recently
Durga Pujja was started. "Kaadaa Khel" a different type of playing is continuing
in Vijaya Dasami day in our village. As a whole the community is well mixed
up with new concepts and old faiths. A kind of unity in diversity indeed
!
POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT
Politics is one of the leading factor in social life.
You can get some idea giving a search in google using keyword "baital"
and "bankura".
EDUCATION
The educational status is good more or less.
