| Debi's Story |
|
| Hi as I have just started this site tonight 11/29/06 it has a long way to go before I can get it up to date. I believe this whole nightmare started on Sept. 27th when Debi went in for her regular check up. She had a lump under her arm that was really bothering her. Being that she had been told many times in the past, as I have been and I am sure many of you have heard, "If it hurts it cannot be cancer". Well she told her doctor about the lump and the doctor sent her immediately out to get a Mammogram and an Ultra sound. That was the beginning. Here we are now 8 or 9 weeks later. She has been poked, probed, had radioactive dyes injected into her, and lumps removed. This is very much the condensed version and I will get this to where it is more detailed over the next few days. Where she is today: Debi will start her Chemo therapy on Dec 12th. She was suppose to start it 11/30/06 thursday. She had to cancel that appointment along with the daysurgery that was scheduled for 11/28/06 to have a port put in, due to the inablity to put gas in her car to go to the appointments. I will be adding links to this site that will help, all reading, to understand all there is to know about Breast Cancer. As I write Debi's story which for the most part will be dictated to me by Debi, you will be able to go to the Cancer website and read up on what you find here. I will give more detailed info on the size of the tumor, and the type of cancer she had and the stage of cancer she has. Debi has a long road ahead of her, she has a devoted husband that has been her mainstay throughout this struggle. He also has medical issues that he had put off for the last several weeks so he could make sure she got to all her appointments, she had 3 biopsy appts, bone scan, surgery, ect. In the process of this he also lost the job he had. Due to his diabilities he's unable to just go out and find a job like most of us can. He is not allowed to lift over 15lbs for any length of time. He is a mechanic with exceptional skill. He had a job that was taylor made for him. However his employer decided to let him go after he had to take the last several weeks off. Unfortuneatly his employer could not understand that without Wayne to take Debi to appointments and be there with her, She would of been on her own. Not everyone has family and friends that can or will be there for them. There are three of us that are working together to help change their situatuion. But we really need a village, to help Debi and Wayne through this for the long term. Please feel free to send emails to me if you have questions or comments about what you read here. You can email me using the link on the contact or the links page, simple put in subject line; attn Tina. I would like to thank you before hand for taking the time to visit our website. May you keep us in your prayers as we will keep you in ours. |
