Yet another way for me to waste time and spend money...

My photography and art gallery

Another thing I do to pass the time is take photographs. Most of the drawings seen here are old ones that I've just now gotten around to scanning and uploading. Judge for yourself as to whether of not you think I'm any good at this stuff. And if you're curious about any of the subject matter, I have included links to related sites. Just click on any of the highlighted words to go to that site. And to see any of the images full-size, just click on it.

My photos are now available as 8x10 emlargements. Please email me for information and prices.

This one was taken at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville. It is of a marble statue of Aphrodite (I believe). I liked the way the reflection showed up in the window behind her.

The other is a shot it took me eight (count 'em, eight!) rolls of film to get. It's of the Confederate's artillery division at the reenactment of the Battle of Olustee. I managed to catch the cannon just as it fired, getting the muzzle flash as it happened. Not easy considering we were sitting only about twenty feet from the cannon, and those things are LOUD!For a few rolls of film, I flinched every time it went off and missed it entirely. How those guys do it is beyond me.For more information on the only Civil War battle to take place in Florida, go to the University of Florida's Olustee page. Loads of informations about a fascinating bit of American History.

Another shot of the Olustee Battle re-enactment

The picture of the dead tree is on the shore of Doctor's Lake, close to my home. The tree is there no longer, so my favorite place to take sunset photos is no more. I won a ribbon (Honorable Mention, if I remember correctly) for this particular photo at the Clay County Fair a few years back. I know, it's not the Pulitzer Prize, but you gotta start somewhere!
The white lion is one of a pair of statues at the base of the historic Lion Bridge in St. Augustine. It connects the mainland with Anastasia Island. They want to tear the bridge down and put up a newer, wider one. From a traffic standpoint I can see their view, but I see no need to destroy the old bridge in the process.
Then there is another dead tree picture. I've taken a lot of these...
The is a closeup of the detail on one of the cannons at the Castillo de San Marcos, the Spanish fort in St. Augustine. The dolphins almost seemed to move.
These next two pictures are from the Native American Powow held at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville several years ago. These two were in the Fancy Dance competition. Aren't the colors and costumes incredible?

This incredible flower is a gloriosa lily that sometimes decides to grow in my parent's yard. Don't you think the name is appropriate?

Another flower from my portfolio. I like to photograph flowers because they are gorgeous, come in an infinite variety and they don't cringe and try to hide or mug outrageously for the camera like people do.

This is a drawing I did a long time ago from a photograph in National Geographic. I love her eyes, they seem to look right into you.

And another person I drew a long time ago. This one I drew from scratch and yes, her neck is too long. One of me very old D&D characters, Lorelei Dawntreader.
