Directions: Study the following terms in preparation for a test. 1. Title page--cover page for a report 2. Vertically centered--when text is centered between the top and bottom margins 3. Hanging indent--all lines in a paragraph are indented except for the first line 4. First line indent--first line in a paragraph is indented and all others are at the margin 5. Border--lines that appear around a paragraph, block of text, or page 6. Shading--way to add a tint, color or pattern to a block of text 7. Page break--location on a page where one page ends and another begins 8. Line spacing--spacing between lines of text 9. Header--same text appearing at the top of every page 10. Footer--same text appearing at the bottom of every page 11. Word count--shows the number of words in a document as well as other stats 12. Report--paper that communicates information about a topic 13. Bullets and numbering--allows you to insert bullets or numbers automatically 14. Indent--temporary left and right margins for a paragraph 15. Margins for an unbound report--1" left and right, 2" top, 1" bottom 16. Margins for a top-bound report--1" left and right, 2.5" top, 1" bottom 17. Margins for a left-bound report--1.5" left and right, 2" top, 1" bottom 18. Soft page break--when Word enters a page break automatically 19. Hard page break--when you enter a page break manually through the command Insert, Break, Page 20. Margins for a top-bound report--1" left and right, 2.5" top, 1" bottom 21. Insert--allows you to put a file into a current document 22. Find and replace--way to replace text automatically 23. Thesaurus--lists synonyms for a selected word 24. Manual--booklet or guidebook that provides instructions or information 25. Style--collection of formats you assign to selected text 26. Bibliography page--pages that identifies sources for a report 27. FACTS: a) A section break will allow you to format just a portion of text differently from the entire document b) the columns features allows text to flow from one column to another c) reports are double spaced d) bibliographies should be typed with entries in alphabetical order e) the key to columns in a document is to click "from this point forward" |
