Directions: Study the following terms in preparation for a test. 1. Portrait orientation-paper positioned taller than it is wide 2. Landscape orientation--paper positioned wider than it is tall 3. Full block letter--letter where all parts begin at left margin 4. Enclosure notation--indication on a letter when something else is included in the envelope 5. Placeholders--boxes in a template identifying placement and location of text 6. Electronic Mail--commonly known as e-mail 7. Wizard--an option that guides you through the steps for creating the template document 8. Courtesy Copy--or CC means someone else is receiving a copy of the letter or memo 9. Subject line--or re refers to what the memo is about 10. Memorandum--written communication within a company 11. Letterhead--stationary used by a company that contains a name, address, phone number, logo, e-mail, etc. 12. Delivery address or inside address--is the part of the letter that goes on the envelope 13. Envelope--item that goes with a letter that can be added through the tool menu 14. Labels--feature that allows you to create identificaiton for file folders, name badges, etc. 17. FACTS: a) lines within paragraphs are single spaced b) 2 places in a letter where you return 4 times is after the date and after the closing c) letterheads generally take up no more than 2" d) letterheads can be located on top, side, or bottom of stationary e) in between paragraphs in the body of a letter are double spaces f) reference initials are usually lowercased g) templates may comtain formatting, pictures, or text |
