Study Guide
Directions: Study the following terms in preparation for a test. 1. Information design--includes 3 questions--1) who is the audience 2) what is the message 3) what is the purpose 2. Audience--a group of people who have something in common and for whom a web site is designed 3. Message--content of Web site; what it is about 4. Purpose�goal or aim of web site; the reason the site is being created 5. Scope statement--statement of how much content the Web site will cover. 6. Persona--an imaginary person representative of the audience. 7. Flowchart--a visual aid in understanding the organization of information's "flow." 8. Chunks--divisions or pieces of information. Content that has been "broken up." 9. Background--colors or images that appear behind the main elements of a Web page. 10. Banner--a headline or text-art logo that appears across the top or along the side of a Web page 11. Path--a way of indicating the categories and subcategories navigated to reach a certain point. 12. Storyboard--a visual aid that can be used to organize a Web site for the purpose of clarifying navigation and other interaction issues. 13. Navigation bar--a design element where all the navigation buttons are grouped together in a "bar." 14. Interaction design--when you consider functionality (how it words) and usability (ease of use) 15. Balance--arranging objects on the page so that they look to be of equal "weight" around an imaginary center line. 16. Greeking--substitution of a straight or squiggly line for text in a sketch 17. Rough sketch--a simple drawing used to make preliminary judgments about the "look" of a Web sie. 18. Unity--when all the objects on a page look like they belong together 19. Thumbnail sketch--a small, very loosely drawn sketch used to make preliminary judgments about the "look" of a Web site. 20. Visual theme--a selection of color, fonts, graphics, etc. to help create a consistent "look" and "feel" to a Web site. |
