Directions: Study the following terms in preparation for a test. 1. Worksheet--sheet you see when you start Excel 2. Workbook--what appears when you start Excel-a workbook contains 3 worksheets 3. Status bar--at bottom of screen that contains the condition of worksheet calculations and settings 4. Task pane--right side of screen and shows options for the task at hand 5. Title bar--top portion of screen and contains the application and name of file 6. Menu bar--located at top portion of screen and contains menu items 7. Toolbar--located at top portion of screen and contains shortcut buttons 8. Active cell--cell that you are currently working in 9. Name box--where name of active cell appears 10. Rows--runs horizontally in a spreadsheet and headings are indicated by alphabetical letters 11. Columns--runs vertically in a spreadsheet and indicators are numbers 12. Cell--intersection of row and column 13. Cell address--the column and row number of a cell 14. Working folder--location for saving your files, usually in the My Documents folder 15. Folder--a location on a drive that you create to hold files that are related to each other 16. Label--when you enter an alphabetic character or symbol (text) as the first character in a cell 17. Left-aligned--LABELS are left-aligned in the cell by default 18. Value--when you enter a number or date as the first character in a cell 19. Right-aligned--VALUES are right-aligned in the cell by default 20. Business form--a document format that you develop for a business activity that occurs often 21. Transaction--recording business events in an uniform manner 22. Professional invoice--a bill that a company or individual creates for professional services 23. AutoComplete--feature that lets you enter labels automatically if you have previously entered them in the same column 24. Purchase order--a business form that a firm completes and sends to a vendor 25. Vendor--a supplier of merchandise 26. Template--model worksheet designs for common business forms 27.
