Directions: Study the following terms in preparation for a test. 1. Database--an organized colleciton of facts about a particular subject 2. Database management system--provides functions to store, search, filter, query, and report on data in a database. 3. Relational database management system--provides tools to LINK databases that contain RELATED information 4. Table--way database info is presented, somewhat like a spreadsheet. 5. Database objects--tools to store, maintain, search, analyze, and report on data in a database program 6. Record--term for each row in a table or one person's data 7. Field--term for items of data 8. Four database objects that are used the most: table, form, query, and reort 9. Field names--term for the way each field is identified in a table 10. Field content--specific data in a field 11. Report--object in a database that displays info retrieved from the database and analyzes the data 12. Wizard--tool in Access that asks you questions and then automatically designs an object 13. Design view--place in the database where you create and modify table structures 14. Forms--object in a database used to display one record at a time 15. Datasheet-another name for table 16. 17. Views--database objects have multiple view e.g. datasheet view, design view, print preview 18. Datasheet view--place to add, edit, delete and view data 19. Primary key--way to link objects in the same database; you DO NOT have to set a primary key 20. Form view--way to enter or view one record at a time |
