| My Family And ADHD |
| I was not sure how to title this page......... My son and ADHD? I thought my family and ADHD is right on the target. ADHD does not just effect the child that has ADHD. It effects your whole family. My 14 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD whe he was 5. We knew something was up when he was younger than that but didn't know what it was until his teacher started to complain. You know........... Your son has trouble paying attention in class. Your son is being disruptive. Since he was my first boy I thought maybe it was just a boy thing. My brothers were rowdy when they were his age. So off to the Dr. we went and we had the tests done. They put him on Ritalin. Ritalin may work for some kids but it didnt work well with him. He cried all the time and he was never hungry. So I took him off. Disruption continued in the house and at school until another teacher says........ You really need to do something about this. So off to another Dr. we go. She made him a prescription for Adderall. I was affraid to give it to him but I did anyway. School got better but at home still disruptive behavior. Hurting other family members getting mad for no reason, frustrated all the time. Then he got into trouble at school and the judge sent him to see some more Doctors so off we go. I have to say thank you to the Judge even though I was mad at him at the time because the new Dr. started him on prozac. And I know this time of treatment might be for your child but it has been amazing for my son. The teachers this year didn't even know he was a child with ADHD. He is an A,B student and our family has calmed down and everyone is so much better now. So I made this page to let you know that ADHD can be frustrating but your child is not a bad child. Your child needs help in recognizing what is going on within their bodies. Here are a few links that I have found that I would like to share with you. Good luck to you and your family.
