WHOLE WHEAT CUT-OUT COOKIES

1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream together powdered sugar and butter.
Mix in egg, vanilla and almond extracts.
Stir in and blend flour, soda and cream of tartar.
Refrigerate 2 - 3 hours.
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Divide dough in half and roll out on lightly
floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters.
Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake 7 - 8 minutes or until delicately golden.
Makes 5 dozen 2 to 2-1/2" cookies.
