SOPAIPILLAS4> 4 cups flour 4 tsp bkg pwd 2 Tbsp nonfat dry milk 1 & 1/2 tsp salt 1 Tbsp lard (shortening) Lukewarm water Oil for frying Honey In large bowl, sift flour, bkg pwd, dry milk and salt. Work in shortening and enough water to make soft dough. Refrigerate until ready to use. Roll dough 1/4" thick on floured board. Cut into 2 - 3" squares. Heat at least 1 & 1/2" of oil to 380 degrees. Drop pieces of dough a few at a time into hot oil. They will puff immediately. Turn to brown the other side. Drain on paper towels. Serve by breaking open and pouring honey inside the pocket. Makes approx 2 dozen |
