DOUGHNUTS4> 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 2 Tbsp. soft shortening 3/4 cup milk 3-1/2 cups flour 4 tsp. bkg. pwd. 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla Glaze: 1/3 cup boiling water 1 cup pwd. sugar 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Beat eggs. Beat in sugar and shortening. Stir in milk. Combine and stir in flour, powder, salt and vanilla. Turn on lightly floured board. Knead. Roll out 1/3 inch thick. Let rest 20 minutes. Cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in got oil till brown. Drain on paper towel. Glaze: Gradually add hot water to powdered sugar. Dip each doughnut into this and into the 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon mixture. |
