CARAMEL BROWNIES

1 German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup melted butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 (14-oz.) bag caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans are good)
1 cup milk chocolate chips

Mix together cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup
evaporated milk. Spread half of mixture
in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees
for 15 minutes. While baking, melt the
following in a double boiler: caramels and
1/2 cup evaporated milk. Top the baked
mixture with the nuts, chips, caramel mixture
and the remaining batter (I drop by teaspoonfuls).
Bake an additional 10 minutes.
Let brownies cool before serving.
