Pierre Poidevin a Frenchman and convict was sent to Botany Bay in 1835 on the ship the "England" .Pierre who was born in Cherbourg, France, was the son of "Pierre of Sauxmenilen" Pierre was sentenced in the Royal court at Guernsey (Channel Islands) onsuspician of Base coin (making coins) After his release from Berrima Gaol, near Goulburn , Pierre sought naturalization, which was granted in 1851 and he was then able to build an Inn at collector, known as the old collector Hotel ,which still stands today but is now a general store. In 1845 Pierre married an Irish girl Rebecca Sheridan, who had migrated to Australia with two of her brothers and sister in law. They were thought to have been related to Richard Brindsley Sheridan the writer and tutor to Bonny Prince Charles , and came from Kildare in Ireland.
