Birth date derived from age 14 on 1860 census.

A Farmer, worked on the railroad, made cross-ties for the railroad, miner, and a Bible scholar.

He was a very strong man with a small mustache. He had very black hair.

He served as church clerk at Lynn Baptist Church for many years. He preached in the absence of the preacher and even performed some funerals.

He bought 80 acres of land from Capp Pendley on which he built his home. The house he built took 2 years to finish as the well was being dug by Sam Landon, he slipped into the hole crippling himself. The house was a two story structure when it was finished. He and his family moved into the house in 1900.

Kimsey worked in Buck Horn Coal mines. He had mules that pulled the coal cars out of the mines. He always hung his whip to the side of the opening of the mine. One day just as he had gotten out of the mine with a load of coal, he heard a loud noise. A large rock had fallen at the opening he had just left. He got his whip and said, "I'm going hom.e" He never entered the mines again.

Notes for VIOLA VIRGINIA TOWNSEND:

In her older years she always wanted the door open so she could see who was passing the house on their way to and from town. She was a very short lady, about 5 feet and in her later years she weighed close to 200 pounds. She dipped snuff.

Part of her last years were spent in the home of Sina and Carley Cooksey, who were her daughter and son-in-law. While living with them and sitting on the front porch she had a stroke and fell into the yard. Sina had to carry her back into the house.

She died while living with one of her other daughters near Brilliant. She was brought back for burial at Lynn Cemetery in the winter of 1937.

She and Kimsey were charter members of Concord Baptist Church in Winston County Alabama. This church is located on the Old Byler Road about 1 mile from Natural Bridge. Concord was organized in 1886 and joined the Clear Creek Association Oct 15, 1886. There were 27 members in 1886.

Vader Crow never married. She died about one week after Bertha Dodd Crow died. Her intestines were blocked, and Carley Cooksey and Dr Bill Cochrane flagged down the 4 o'clock train to Jasper to take her for surgery. She died after the surgery was completed. She lived her entire life with here parents. She is buried by her two brothers in Lynn Cemetery.
