This is for you, my friend....
How many times have we shared?
Yet all this time I never knew,
The little girl inside was so scared.
I never knew the horror inside,
You hid away so secretly and well.
You always were my shining star,
I just learned the story you had to tell.
How horrible it must have been for you,
To endure the hurt and shame.
To grow up with uncertainty,
No love for you to claim.
The guilt that was laid upon you,
Never once was it your fault.
The lies and demons that threatened you,
The dreams you never caught.
Made to live a life insane,
Always living in fear.
Horrible nightmares that have followed you,
Year after year after year.
You somehow managed to rise above,
And break free of the lies that imprisoned you.
To begin to find yourself,
And the beauty that lived within you.
You sought peace from everywhere,
Trying to find your way.
But peace was not to be found,
Until you heard your Lord say...
Come to me, Val, my child,
I'll take away all of your pain.
Let me live inside of you,
And you'll never be alone again.
You are my child,
As it has been from the start.
All you ever needed, little one,
Was to invite me into your heart.
I'm sorry for all the tears you've cried,
The dark and frightful times at night.
But beside you I will stay forever,
And guide you with my light.
Today you have become one indeed,
The beauty and love you share.
No one would have ever known,
The tears you cried in despair.
Now as I end this poem,
I look toward our Heavenly skies.
And thank the Lord from up above,
For giving you" Victory Against the Lies...
