previous day's entry August 2007 next day's entry
It's hard to believe that August is nearly over!  Where has this year gone??

This last month has been quite busy - we finished our social worker interviews and she said that she's going to recommend us for approval which is great news!  The Department of Human Services gives the actual approval, but we assume that they would usually take the social worker's opinion.

We are definitely adopting a special needs (SN) child, and are just narrowing down our list of which SN we will accept.  The main one will be a child with a minor congenital heart defect.  Sounds scary, but it's not that bad!  The main one would be a hole in the heart, and it may just fix itself.  If not, the child may need surgery, but would then be expected to lead a normal life, i.e. it's not an ongoing condition that would take a lot of care etc.

We expect our file to go to China in about December, and then the wait is about 12-15 months from then (more towards the 15 month mark, we think), so we're looking at about March 2009.  We won't hear anything back from the Department now until October some time.

Other than that, August has been busy catching up with several different friends who were either visiting from overseas or returning home from overseas.  A couple of Bethany's friends have turned 2 years old, so we've even had a couple of birthday parties to go to as well!  (Bethany's turn next week)

My sister Jo was in Uganda in July and now Mum & Dad are currently in Africa, holidaying and visiting friends of theirs who are doing some missions work.  Jerome's Mum is in Perth at the moment, and next week his Dad comes over from Singapore for a visit.  So we've also had lots of family goodbye and welcome back lunches/dinners!

Let's hope for a quieter September....
