As listed in the "Pioneer History of Illinois, Containing the
Discovery in 1673 and the History
of the Country to the Year 1818 when the State Government Was Organized"
by John Reynolds, originally published in 1852.
Library of Congress Catalogue #4-8816
"Congress also donated "one hundred acres* of land to each militia-man
enrolled and doing
duty in Illinois on Aug. 1, 1790, within the district of Kaskaskia."
The claims under this act were
made mostly by French settlers, as they constituted the greater part
of the militia force at that date.
