Rise and Shine
Chris Brock pushed himself out of his slumber and back into consciousness. He felt groggy and disoriented and his eyes burned, annoyed with him at forcing them open. He hadn't been asleep for too long, but he couldn't afford to sleep through the day. He had things to do. He got off the couch and went into his bedroom, grabbing a
clean pair of clothes. He got showered and dressed, then headed out of his apartment for Oz's Pawn Shop.

He parked his car out front and went in, the bell dinging as the door swung open. There, at the counter, was the man he had come to see. Rob Wolfenstein, Oz's one and only employee. Rob was currently looking down at the counter, flipping through an old Tales from the Crypt comic. He looked up as the bell dinged and saw Chris.

"Hey, Chris." Rob said. "What's up? What can I do for you?"

"Well, I'm looking for some information," Chris said, walking up to the counter. "See, a friend of mine has come down with some strange symptoms. It appears as though she's becoming a vampyre, but she's not one. She has fangs, she's drinking blood, her senses are honed, and she cries blood, which that alone has me totally stumped. What could it be?"

Rob at forgotten about his comic totally. He sat back with a look of concentration and thinking on his face. "I wish I could tell you something useful, but that's a new one to me, too. Do I know this friend of yours?"

Chris nodded. "Yea, Cam. She came in here with me a couple weeks ago, I think."

"Oh yea, I remember her. Shit, she was hot." Rob closed the comic. "So, what happened? Did she get bitten, or what?"

"Yea, she got bitten several times. She even got turned into a retainer by Josh for a night." Chris sighed, going over what Cam had told him last night. "Which seems to be when the symptoms started. She hasn't been able to sleep since then. Not once."

"You're sure she's not turning, or anything?" Rob asked.

"I'm bloody positive," Chris replied. "She has a pulse, as far as I know she's been going out in daylight fine. She has fangs, but they're small... like mini-fangs. And vampyres might be up at night, but they do sleep during the day. This no sleeping at all thing has me stumped, too." He sighed again, looking off. "This whole bloody situation has me stumped."

"Well, I'm sorry I don't have any more information for you." Rob said. "I'll poke around in some books, though. If I come across anything, I'll give you a call."

"Thanks, Rob. I'll probably be back around in a day or so to pick up some more bullets." Chris turned and headed back towards the door.

"No problem, man. I hope everything with Cam works out. She was nice." Rob opened his comic back up and found the page he had left off at.

Chris left the pawn shop and drove back to his apartment. He went in and immediatly went into his bedroom, laying down. He still felt exhausted and intended to get some more sleep. He tried to think of what he could do next to find out what happened to Cam. Dagon... he might now. The thought of turning to a vampyre for help made Chris cringe, but he couldn't think of anything else to do. He did his eyes a favor and closed them again, letting sleep claim him. He'd try and find Dagon when he went out tonight. Chris hoped he would have some answers.
