| The Hospital Interlude | ||
| Chris put his phone away and sighed, running his hands over his face. This was turning out to be an incredibly long night. He wondered how much longer it would be until Jon and Lil got released. As many trips as he made to this hospital, he wouldn't be surprised if someone started to catch on. That's the least of my bloody problems right now, he thought. Now, something was happening to Cam, too. He wanted to get over there as soon as possible. Jon was being treated for the bite wound, along with a blood transfusion. All he wanted to know was how Lil was doing. She was carrying their child and he was angry for her coming along. He laid on the OR table, trying to pray to something. Let Lil be all right and I swear I'll marry her tomorrow. Lil was rushed into the ER in critical condition. She'd lost a major amount of blood and was still out cold, the doctors rushed her in and started blood infusions and an IV. They also put her on oxygen to help her breathing, she labored for breath as they worked on her. She was strong but she didn't look well at all. Jon tried to stay awake while they were working on him, but it wasn't helping. He let sleep take him, if only for a little while. Chris got up from the chair he had been sitting in and went over to the front desk. "Do you know what the status is on my friends I brought in?" he asked the nurse. She asked him to wait while she went to go check. Chris looked around the waiting room at all the other people. The nurse looked up at him. "Mr. Byers and Miss Doggett?" She asked. He nodded. "Yea, that's them." "Mr. Byers is in the process of recieving a blood transfusion. Miss Doggett, however, is not doing as well. She's in surgery right now." "Bugger..." he said under his breath. "Will she be okay?" "We'll be keeping her for a few days, sir. Are you family?" "No... just a friend of sorts." He felt bad about damn near getting them both killed. He really should learn how to protect people better if he was going to let them tag along with him. "Mr. Byers should be released tomorrow. In the meantime, you might want to get some rest." The nurse looked Chris in the eye. "No offense sir, but you look like hell." He smirked, but there wasn't any real humor in it. "Do me a favor though. When they're ready to be released, or even ready to have visitors, give me a call. Alright?" She nodded. "Your number was on the paperwork when they came in." She was quiet for a second. "Sir, there have been an alarming number of puncture wounds and such in the area of late.....Are we in danger?" He tried to put on his best bullshit smile. "From what? Vampyres?" The nurse shrugged. "I'm simply curious." "I'm sure we don't have to worry about vampyres or werewolves or aliens from the 8th dimension for that matter." He laughed a little, trying to sell the story. "It's probably just a coincidence." She smiled back. "You mean Planet Ten." Lil's color slowly got a little better, but she was still quite pale. Her pulse got stronger as they worked on the puncture wounds on her neck and continued the blood transfusion. "Of course," he smiled some more. "But if you don't mind, I actually have to be meeting a friend of mine. I was going to wait until Jon and Lil were released, but since that won't be until at least tomorrow, I should be going." She nodded. "Mr. Brock, we'll call you as soon as we know more." "Thanks." He turned away from the desk and started heading for the exit. He hoped Jon and Lil would be okay, but there wasn't anything he could do for them right now. Cam, on the other hand, needed his help and he intended to give it to her. --- Chris "I'm late for a very important date" Brock Jon & Lil... The Patients. |
