| She snarled, getting up to open the door. "I have teeth, My eyes are going apeshit and..." She stared at his neck again. "I have this uncontrollable urge to cut you open and drink from you right now." "Well, it must not be totally uncontrollable, or else you'd be doing it right now. I called Chris. He said he was at the hospital. He's gonna call back when he can leave." He looked at her. "It'll be okay." She looked at him, her eyes shifting hazel. "Do I look like I'm okay?" "I think you should lie down and try to get some rest. I'm sure Chris will call back soon." He hoped he would. He, himself, didn't have a clue. "I can't sleep right now. I haven't been able to sleep for TWO DAYS!" She pushed her way past him and went into her bedroom, lighting a smoke. "I can't sleep now, that'll make three. You want to know what I had to eat when I went out?" He followed her into the bedroom, his eyes looking down at the floor. He felt as though he was going numb. "What?" "I bought steak. At the grocery store. I sat in the parking lot and sucked all the juice out of the steak. THAT's what I had to eat....so I wouldn't bite you." As she exhaled, her small fangs showed themselves. "Because I didn't want to hurt you...and I DID." He closed his eyes, trying to will everything back to normal. It didn't work. "Why is this happening?" She finally looked him in the eye. "I have no idea. hand me the phone. I'm going to call Chris myself." He got the phone and handed it to her, his eyes still looking down. He went over to the bed and sat down, in a bit of a daze. "If it turns out I'm a vampire, I'm sacrificing myself. I'll let Chris take my life. If I'm not, then we'll figure it out." She held her wrist out to Dave. "I can't even feel my heart. I can only hear yours. See if my heart's still beating." He winced at the thought of her sacrificing herself. He knew he wouldn't let her do that. He looked up at her wrist, then moved his hand to it, checking for her pulse. "It is..." Yeah...but for how much longer? She dialed Chris's cell number, waiting for an answer. Chris was still at the hospital, waiting. He answered his phone. "Brock." She took a breath. "It's Cameron. Something's really wrong with me." "Hey, Cam. Yea, Dave called a little while ago. What's wrong?" There was a sound of concern in his voice. "I think I'm a vampire." She said, frightened. "What makes you think that?" Chris knew it couldn't be possible. She had been fine. Maybe she was just wigging out from the whole retainer incident. "I'm paler than I was, my eyes are changing color, I bit Dave twice, drawing blood both times and I haven't been able to sleep since Joshua made me his retainer. I mean I've tried, and it's not happening." She looked at Dave, putting her hand gently on top of his. 'I'm sorry.' She mouthed to him. "It's ok." Trenton mouthed back to her. Chris sighed. "That all sounds really strange." He didn't really want to tell her the next bit of news, but he had to. "Cam, I'm at the hospital right now. Jon and Lil got hurt. They're fine, but I don't really want to run off and leave them here. Do you think you can wait for them to get released, and then I'll be right over? It shouldn't be too much longer, I don't think." She swallowed hard. "This is all my fault." She said, shocked. "Don't tell them what happened to me. I don't want them to know. I can't leave. David won't let me. I tried twice already. I'm scared, Chris. Don't let me hurt Dave. If I'm a vampire, I'll let you kill me. I won't contest it." "Don't start with the blame game. And don't start condemning yourself to death. I seriously doubt your a vampyre. They're essentially undead. Do you have a pulse? Are you still breathing?" He said all of this with a calming tone. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but he didn't really think Cam was a vampyre. "Yeah, I'm breathing and Dave just checked my pulse. But what about me drinking blood? I sucked the juice out of two raw steaks tonight, Chris....That's not normal. Bright lights hurt my eyes and My senses are sharper. Dave's afraid. I can smell it on him." "I'll be honest. From what you're telling me, I don't know what it is. But I'm sure when I get a chance to see it first hand, it'll help. And in the meantime, let's not jump to any conclusions. Don't worry about Dave, he'll hold together. Just don't suck any more blood." Bloody hell, he didn't have a clue as to what might be going on. He started to rack his brain for someone who might. "What do you want me to do with Jon and Lil? They were sort of staying with me." "I don't want them to see me until we figure out what the hell is wrong with me." She spoke calmly. "I've tried eating regular food and it's not as satisfying as when I bit into Dave tonight at the club. The smell of a Root Beer almost made me sick to my stomach. We thought it was a flu....When I cried, it was red, like blood. I swear I am not making this up, Chris." She leaned into Dave, trying to keep from looking at him. She lit another smoke, it being the only thing keeping her from biting into him. Trenton moved a hand around her shoulder, holding her firmly. He'd do whatever he had to to comfort her. "Don't worry. Just try and relax and I'll be there soon, okay? I'll take Jon and Lil to my apartment, then tell them I'm going back out and come over. We'll work it all out." He tried to sound confident, but internally, Chris was worried. |
